APRECI Awards
The APRECI Awards (Spanish: ''Premios APRECI'') are awards given by the Asociación Peruana de Prensa Cinematográfica, which reward the best Peruvian film productions of the year. The award has been awarded annually since 2009. History The Asociación Peruana de Prensa Cinematográfica was founded on August 4, 2007, at the 11th Lima Film Festival. 2 years later, they created the APRECI Awards with the intention of recognizing quality Peruvian and Latin American feature films and, in turn, promoting the art of cinema. The first award ceremony took place on December 18, 2009, at the José María Arguedas Cultural Center located in Lima, Peru. where the film ''The Milk of Sorrow'' by Claudia Llosa was awarded as Best Peruvian Feature Film. During the first 8 years since its creation, only a single award was awarded: Best Peruvian Feature Film. Cinema Of Peru
While the Peruvian film industry has not been nearly as prolific as that of some other Latin American countries, such as Mexico or Argentina, some Peruvian movies produced enjoyed regional success. Historically, the cinema of Peru began in Iquitos in 1932 by Antonio Wong Rengifo (with a momentous, initial film billboard from 1900) because of the rubber boom and the intense arrival of foreigners with technology to the city, and thus continued an extensive, unique filmography, with a different style than the films made in the capital, Lima. In Lima, the first Peruvian sound film (with synchronized music and some talking sequences) was Alberto Santana's '' Resaca'', which was released in 1934. The Lima Film Festival ( es, Festival de Cine de Lima) is a film festival held annually by the Catholic University of Peru (PUCP). Its original name was ''Festival Elcine''.
