Saths Cooper
Sathasivan "Saths" Cooper (born 11 June 1950) is a clinical psychologist in South Africa who was born in Durban of Indian-South African background. He began to identify with the Black Consciousness Movement (BCM) and joined the South African Students' Organisation (SASO), and was one of the so-called "SASO Nine" student leaders arrested in 1974 for their anti-Apartheid activities. During this time Saths spent nine years banned, house arrested and jailed, including over five years in Robben Island where he shared a cell block with Nelson Mandela. While imprisoned, Cooper completed his undergraduate degree in psychology via a correspondence course with the University of South Africa. Released in 1982 Cooper went on to study at the University of the Witwatersrand completing his PhD as a Fulbright scholar at Boston University. Fons Van De Vijver
Alphonsius Josephus Rachel (Fons) van de Vijver (4 October 1952 – 1 June 2019) was a Dutch psychologist and Professor of Cross-cultural Psychology at Tilburg University, North-West University, University of Queensland, and National Research University Higher School of Economics. He was known for his work on cross-cultural research and on methods of comparisons. Van de Vijver was born in Koewacht on 4 October 1952. He received both his MA and in 1991 his PhD in Psychology from Tilburg University. He was appointed Professor of Cross-cultural Psychology at Tilburg University, and was also Professor at the North-West University in South Africa and the University of Queensland in Australia. In 2013, he received the APA Award for Distinguished Contributions to the International Advancement of Psychology. Maria Cristina Richaud is an Argentinian psychologist. She was born and raised up in Buenos Aires, and in 1970 received her bachelor's degree in psychology from University of Buenos Aires, and her doctorate in cognitive psychology from the same university 4 years later. Then she became a researcher at National Council of Scientific and Technological Research. Her work are mainly about parenting, stress, coping, attachment, and social cognitive variables in children and adolescents. Later she devoted herself to the study of children at risk from poverty. Richaud served as the vice-president and then president of the Argentine Association of Behavioral Sciences. She co-founded ''Interdisciplinaria: Revista de Psicología y Ciencias Afines'' in 1980. Dan Olweus
Dan Olweus (April 18, 1931 – September 20, 2020) was a Swedish-Norwegian psychologist. He was a research professor of psychology at the University of Bergen, Norway. Olweus has been widely recognized as a pioneer of research on bullying. Biography Olweus was born on April 18, 1931, in Nässjö, Sweden. In 1969, he earned a PhD from Umeå University in Sweden, with a dissertation on aggressive behaviour among young boys. He joined the faculty at the University of Bergen, in Norway, in 1970. He was a professor of psychology from 1970 to 1995, and was a research professor of psychology from 1996 onwards. Olweus was a fellow at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University from 1986 to 1987. He served as president of the International Society for Research on Aggression from 1995 to 1996. Olweus died on September 20, 2020, at the age of 89.
