AMAP (Belarus)
OMON (russian: Отряд милиции особого назначения, translit=Otryad militsii osobogo naznachenia, , ) or AMAP ( be, Атрад міліцыі асобага прызначэння, translit=Atrad milicyji asobaha pryznačennia, ) is a Belarusian law enforcement force under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus (MUS). OMON is part of the MUS's Patrol Service, and is considered to be the republic's riot police. Members of OMON wear balaclavas in order to keep their identity secret and avoid reprisals by the opposition. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus ( be, Міністэрства ўнутраных спраў Рэспублікі Беларусь; russian: Министерство внутренних дел Республики Беларусь), abbreviated МUS () in Belarusian and MVD () in Russian, is a body of the Belarusian Government that is charged with the internal affairs of Belarus. October Square (; be, Кастрычніцкая плошча) is a square in the center of Minsk, Belarus, which is located between Independence Avenue, Engels streets and International Street. To its east side there are areas limited to buildings of the Palace of Culture of Trade Unions, the Museum of the Great Patriotic War and the Minsk Palace of Republic. They are used in firefighting, large vehicle washing, riot control, and mining. Most water cannons fall under the category of a fire monitor.
