AKM Bazlur Rahman
AKM Bazlur Rahman () was an Awami League politician and recipient of the Independence Day Award, the highest civilian award in Bangladesh. Career Rahman was a founding member of Bangladesh Chhatra League in 1948. In 1954, Rahman worked as the campaign manager of the United Front's candidate in Raipura, Narsingdi District. He was elected secretary of the Narsingdi District unit of the Awami League in 1955. In 1965, Rahman was the secretary of the Dhaka District unit of Awami League. Death In the aftermath of the assassination of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Bazlur Rahman was detained and tortured by the new regime. Rahman was paralyzed due to the torture. Rahman died on 8 February 1988. He was awarded the Independence Day Award posthumously in 2021 for his contribution to the Bangladesh Liberation War. His son, Lt. Independence Award
The Independence Day Award ( bn, স্বাধীনতা পদক), also termed Independence Award ( bn, স্বাধীনতা পুরস্কার), Swadhinata Padak, and Swadhinata Puroskar, is the highest state award given by the government of Bangladesh. Introduced in 1977 by president Ziaur Rahman, this award is bestowed upon Bangladeshi citizens or organizations in recognition of substantial contribution to one of many fields, including the War of Liberation, the Language Movement, education, literature, journalism, public service, science and technology, medical science, social science, song, games and sports, fine arts, rural development, and other areas. Bangladesh Chhatra League
The Bangladesh Chhatra League ( bn, বাংলাদেশ ছাত্রলীগ; translation: Bangladesh Students' League; BSL), formerly known as the East Pakistan Student League, often simply called the Chhatra League, is a students' political organisation in Bangladesh, founded by Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on 4 January 1948. BSL is the student wing of the Bangladesh Awami League. During the Bangladesh Liberation War, the Bangladesh Chhatra League was a key player, but in 1972, it broke up into two factions based on their allegiance to Shekh Mujibur Rahman. United Front (East Pakistan)
The United Front was a coalition of political parties in East Bengal which contested and won Pakistan's first provincial general election to the East Bengal Legislative Assembly. The coalition consisted of the Awami Muslim League, the Krishak Praja Party, the Ganatantri Dal (Democratic Party) and Nizam-e-Islam. The coalition was led by three major Bengali populist leaders- A. Assassination Of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman
The first president of Bangladesh, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and most of his family were killed during the early hours of 15 August 1975 by a group of young Bangladesh Army personnel who invaded his Bangabandhu Memorial Museum, Dhanmondi 32 residence as part of 15 August 1975 Bangladesh coup d'état, a coup d'état. Mujibur Rahman (officer, Born 1968)
Mujibur Rahman SBP, OSP, PBGMS, PPMS, ndc, psc is a Lieutenant general in the Bangladesh Army and Quartermaster General (QMG) of the Bangladesh Army in Army Headquarters. Prior to that, he was the longest serving director general of the Special Security Force. He came to limelight in 2016, as the Operational Commander who carried out Operation Thunderbolt during the Holey Artisan Attack. He is also the recipient of Bangla Academy Literary Award 2023.
