AIR Manjeri FM 102.7 ( ml, ആകാശവാണി മഞ്ചേരി എഫ്.എം 102.7) is an FM radio station located in Manjeri, operated by All India Radio. It broadcasts programs varying from news to entertainment and its broadcast area covers the Malappuram district, major parts of Kozhikode, Wayanad, Palakkad, some areas of Thrissur and the Nilgiris district of Tamil Nadu. According to the statistics of All India Radio, there are approximately 80 lakh listeners. History It was inaugurated on 28.1.2006 by former Minister of State for External Affairs, E. Ahammed. D. Pradeep Kumar was the first Programme Executive. First transmission executive was Mathew Joseph and first announcer was R. Kanakambaran. Manjeri () is a major town and municipality in Malappuram district, Kerala, India. It is the fourth-most populous municipality in state. It is situated southeast to Karipur International Airport and northeast to Malappuram, the district headquarters, and forms a part of Malappuram metropolitan area. It is one of the major commercial towns under the Malappuram urban agglomeration and serves as the headquarters of Eranad Taluk. Vividh Bharati
The Vividh Bharati Service (VBS; ) of All India Radio was conceptualized to combat Radio Ceylon in 1967. Due to the Indian Government stopping its short wave relay centers, VBS is only available on the Internet. Vividh Bharati radio channel was launched on 3 October 1957. All the programmes are produced centrally at Vividh Bharati Service, Borivali, Mumbai and up-linked to the satellite. 40 Vividh Bharati stations across the country down-link these programmes through captive earth stations provided at each of these AIR stations. Some local programme windows are also provided at these stations to give regional flavour to the listeners. Vividh Bharati is also broadcast on DD Direct Plus, the state owned DTH platform.
