AIR Awards Of 2021
The 2021 AIR Awards is the fifteenth annual Australian Independent Record Labels Association Music Awards ceremony (generally known as the AIR Awards). It took place virtually on 5 August 2021 in Adelaide. The nominations were revealed on 2 June 2021 with all material being released in 2020. At the virtual event, AIR CEO, Maria Amato said "Congratulations to all the nominees and winners tonight. In a year of continued lockdowns and enormous challenges it was great to see Australian independent artists continue to create new music and connect with engaged audiences." Gordi (musician)
Sophie Payten (born 28 December 1992), known professionally as Gordi, is an Australian folktronica singer/songwriter. Her music has been featured in various television series and films: her 2015 single "Can We Work It Out" featured in the seventh series of ''The Vampire Diaries'', her 2017 single "Heaven I Know" featured in the tenth series of '' The Walking Dead'', and her 2017 song "Something Like This" featured in the 2020 teen romantic comedy '' To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You''. Josh Teskey
Josh Teskey (born 31 July 1987) is an Australian blues musician, best known for his work with the Teskey Brothers. Teskey released the collaborative studio album, '' Push the Blues Away'' with Ash Grunwald, on 13 November 2020, which peaked at number 8 on the ARIA Albums Chart. Life and career 1987–2007: Early life Josh Teskey was born on 31 July 1987 in Warrandyte, Victoria. He attended a local primary school with no year levels. He was close to his brother Sam, with Josh saying in 2021, "We had these bird calls we'd do so we could always find each other in bush near where we lived. ''Blonde on the Tracks'' is the debut studio album by Australian singer-songwriter Emma Swift and was released August 14, 2020 by Tiny Ghost Records. The album consists of Bob Dylan covers and recorded between 2017 and 2020 in Nashville, Tennessee, the album was produced by Wilco's Pat Sansone and featured a number of well-known Nashville musicians as Swift's backing band, including British guitarist Robyn Hitchcock, Swift's partner. Emma Swift (born 15 December 1981) is an Australian singer-songwriter. Before becoming a musician, she was a radio broadcaster, hosting Americana music show ''In the Pines'' on FBi Radio and ''Revelator'' on Double J at Australian Broadcasting Corporation in Sydney, Australia. Sunday (The Gospel According To Iso)
''Sunday (The Gospel According to Iso)'' is the sixth studio album by Australia vocal duo Vika and Linda Bull and was released on 11 September 2020. At the AIR Awards of 2021, the album won Best Independent Blues and Roots Album or EP. Background and release When the first COVID-19 pandemic lockdown began in Melbourne in March 2020, Vika and Linda Bull decided to sing one gospel song each Sunday morning for their followers on social media. The weekly performance became known as the "Sunday Sing Song". Vika said "It's kept our spirits up and we've had great feedback from people". Following the feedback, the sisters decided to record an album of gospel songs. Music director Cameron Bruce played piano from his home in New South Wales and sent the files to Melbourne where the sisters added the vocals. Vika And Linda
Vika and Linda, also known as Vika and Linda Bull, are an Australian vocal duo consisting of Vika Susan Bull (born 1966) and her younger sister, Linda Rose Bull . They came to prominence after singing backing vocals in Joe Camilleri's band The Black Sorrows from 1988. Sasha McLeod (born August 26th 2001), known professionally as Sycco (), is an Aboriginal Australian singer-songwriter and producer from Brisbane. She was nominated for Triple J Unearthed Artist of the Year in 2020, having released the pop singles "Nicotine" and "Dribble" in the same year. Early life McLeod grew up in Brisbane, Queensland. She confirmed during a performance in Melbourne, she has a Virgo Sun, Sagittarius Moon, and Capricorn Rising. Has also developed an interest in bakeries. Mia Wray
Mia Isobel Wray-McCann (born 28 October 1995), known professionally as Mia Wray, is an Australian pop singer, songwriter and musician from Noosa, Queensland. Born and raised in Noosa before later relocating to Melbourne, Wray rose to prominence after winning the 2011 iteration of Telstra's Road to Discovery Program. She independently released two extended plays, ''Mia Wray'' (2014) and ''Send Me Your Love'' (2016), before releasing her debut single "Work for Me" in 2020. Hayley Mary is an Australian singer-songwriter and was the lead singer of The Jezabels from 2007–2017. Mary released her debut solo single in 2020. Early life Hayley Mary grew up in Byron Bay where she went to school with Heather Shannon, with whom she would later form The Jezabels. The two relocated to Sydney to attend University, where they met Nik Kaloper and Sam Lockwood, and formed the band in 2007.
