ADS is an Australian television station based in Adelaide, South Australia. It is owned and operated by Paramount Networks UK & Australia through their Australian holdings Network 10. History ADS-10 began as ''ADS-7'' on 24 October 1959. In the late 1980s ADS-7 was bought by media entrepreneur Kerry Stokes, who also owned CTC-7 in Canberra. In 1987, Stokes planned to buy the Seven Network from John Fairfax which would have seen ADS-7 Adelaide and CTC-7 Canberra align with ATN-7 Sydney and HSV-7 Melbourne. Stokes offered $100 million more than rival Christopher Skase for Seven, but was ultimately unsuccessful. Unable to build a metropolitan Seven television network, on 7 August 1987, Stokes sold ADS, CTC and his licence for NEW Perth to Northern Star Holdings, owners of Network Ten. The Seven Network (commonly known as Channel Seven or simply Seven) is a major Australian commercial free-to-air Television broadcasting in Australia, television network. It is owned by Seven West Media, Seven West Media Limited, and is one of five main free-to-air television networks in Australia. The network's headquarters are located in Sydney. As of 2014, it is the second-largest network in the country in terms of population reach. Heather Gell
Heather Doris Gell (19 May 1896 – 23 October 1988) was an Australian kindergarten teacher and early proponent of Dalcroze eurhythmics to Australia. She also worked as a radio broadcaster, television presenter and theatre producer. Early life and education Gell, born in Glenelg, South Australia on 19 May 1896, was the eldest child of Annie Elizabeth (née Webster) and Adelaide accountant Harry Dickson Gell. She was educated at Tormore House School in North Adelaide. In 1915–16, she studied at the Adelaide Kindergarten Training College (AKTC) which included a course in eurhythmics. Career Gell was principal of the Norwood Clayton Montessori School for a few years, while learning piano and teaching eurhythmics at AKTC. John Martin's Christmas Pageant
The National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant is a parade held annually in the South Australian capital of Adelaide. Established in 1933, the event is staged annually on the second Saturday of November, typically from 9.30am except 2020 and 2021 where it was broadcast at 7:00pm. It comprises a procession of 85 sets and 1,700 volunteers, including some 63 floats, 15 bands, 164 clowns, dancing groups, and walking performers, all culminating in the arrival of Father Christmas. The pageant is officially recognised as a "heritage icon" by the National Trust of Australia, and a "state institution" by the Government of South Australia. The pageant has been owned by the South Australian Government since 1996, and National Pharmacies has been the naming rights sponsor since 2019. TVSN (an acronym for "Television Shopping Network") is an Australian and New Zealand broadcast, cable television and satellite television network specializing in home shopping. 10 Shake is an Australian free-to-air digital television multichannel owned by Network 10. It launched on 27 September 2020 at 6am. The channel includes a mix of shows for people aged forty and under. It broadcasts programming for children from 6am to 6pm, and from 6pm to 6am shows for young teens to adults. 10 Bold is an Australian free-to-air digital television multichannel owned by Network 10. It originally launched on 26 March 2009 as One HD with a focus on broadcasting sports-based programming and events, but rebranded to One in April 2011 to more reality, scripted and adventure-based programming aimed at males between the ages of 25 to 54. 10 HD is an Australian free-to-air television channel that was originally launched on 16 December 2007 on channel 1. The channel was available to high definition digital television viewers through Network 10 owned-and-operated stations. The multichannel broadcast live sport, entertainment, films, documentaries, science fiction and news. The channel ceased broadcasting on 25 March 2009, and the following day was replaced by One HD (now known as 10 Bold). Following the government's decision to remove the SD Primary Channel limitations, the channel restored as an HD simulcast on 2 March 2016 on channel 13.
