The Colt's Manufacturing Company Advanced Colt Carbine-Monolithic is an improved version of the M4 carbine presented to the United States military at a conference as a possible replacement for the M16 rifle and M4 carbine within the military. Design The Colt ACC-M (Advanced Colt Carbine-Monolithic) adds Colt's proprietary, monolithic Mil-Std-1913 rail system (quad rail) forward hand guard to the normal M4 carbine upper receiver. Colt M4 Carbines and Colt M4A1 Carbines can be easily and relatively inexpensively modified/upgraded into ACC-Ms by replacing the upper receiver, which is more cost-effective than completely replacing the weapons with a whole new carbine with a different control layout and different overall ergonomics and handling characteristics that require new and different training and maintenance protocols. M4 Carbine

M16 Rifle
The M16 rifle (officially designated Rifle, Caliber 5.56 mm, M16) is a family of military rifles adapted from the ArmaLite AR-15 rifle for the United States military. Individual Carbine
The Individual Carbine was a competition to select the planned successor to the M4 carbine in the United States Army. The U.S. Army conducted an open competition for a carbine to replace the M4. This competition was for the Army only—the United States Marine Corps and other branches chose to stay with current weapons in service. The proposal was passed before the Joint Requirements Oversight Council in August 2010, and the Army was to solicit submissions from the small arms industry by the end of that year. The competition was open to all manufacturers. However, Phase II testing reduced the field down to six rifles. The Colt Automatic Rifle-15 or CAR-15 is a family of M16 rifle–based firearms marketed by Colt in the 1960s and early 1970s. However, the term "CAR-15" is most commonly associated with the Colt Commando (AKA: XM177); these select-fire carbines have ultrashort and barrels with over-sized flash suppressors. The CAR-15 name was an attempt to re-associate the AR-15 name with Colt, since the AR initially stood for ArmaLite, the original manufacturer of the ArmaLite AR-15. AR-15
An AR-15-style rifle is any lightweight semi-automatic rifle based on the Colt AR-15 design. The original ArmaLite AR-15 is a scaled-down derivative of Eugene Stoner's ArmaLite AR-10 design.
