''News Breakfast'' is an Australian news breakfast television program. It is broadcast on ABC TV and ABC News channel from 6:00 am to 9:00 am AEST/AEDT on weekdays and is hosted by Michael Rowland and Lisa Millar. The program is also streamed live on ABC iView and the Australia Network throughout the Asia-Pacific region. History The program commenced broadcasting on 3 November 2008 as ''ABC News Breakfast'' on ABC2 (now ABC TV Plus), with hosts Virginia Trioli, Barrie Cassidy (Monday-Thursday) and Joe O'Brien (Friday), sport presenter Paul Kennedy and weather presenter Vanessa O'Hanlon. Breakfast News
''Breakfast News'' was a breakfast news programme which first aired on BBC1 on 2 October 1989. The programme was previously known as '' Breakfast Time''. It was planned to launch on 18 September 1989 but was held back by two weeks due to technical issues with its new studio. The programme adopted a rolling news format with news summaries every 15 minutes plus weather and regional news every 30 minutes. Other features included a review of the day's newspapers and regular business news updates. From 22 November 1989, following the commencement of televised coverage of the House of Commons the 8am to 8.15am part pf the programme was simulcast on BBC2 as part of a new news hour which encompassed a review of the previous day's proceedings at Westminster. ABC Iview
ABC iview is a video on demand and catch-up TV service run by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. Currently iview video content can only be viewed by users in Australia. As of 2016, ABC iview attracts around 50 million plays monthly and accounts for around half of the total time streamed by Australian TV video services. History After running for several months in beta form under the name "ABC Playback", the service became available as a Flash website in July 2008. This was the next step after the video podcasting of ABC TV programs since July 2006. The iview Flash website was redesigned in 2009 and 2010, to cater for a large increase in content. ABC Radio Melbourne
ABC Radio Melbourne (official callsign: 3LO) is an ABC Local Radio station in Melbourne, Australia. It began transmission on 13 October 1924, and was Melbourne's second licensed radio station after 3AR. Most Local Radio stations in Victoria simulcast ABC Radio Melbourne's programming when not airing local shows for their areas. History The station was initially owned by the Broadcasting Company of Australia, owned by J. & N. Tait (theatrical entrepreneurs), Buckley & Nunn (a department store) and The Herald and Weekly Times Ltd (a newspaper company). Jonathan Eric Faine (born 21 September 1956) is an Australian former radio presenter who hosted the morning program on ABC Radio Melbourne in Melbourne. Faine is recognised as a prominent and influential member of the Australian Jewish community. Early life and education Faine was born in Dunedin, New Zealand. He emigrated to Sydney with his parents at a young age. Later they moved to Melbourne in 1968, where he attended Melbourne High School. ABC Me (stylised as ABC ME) is an Australian English language children's free-to-air television channel owned by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. It was officially launched by Prime Minister Kevin Rudd on 4 December 2009 as ABC3. History In September 2009, the Australian government announced a proposal to launch a new digital-only children's channel, ABC3. Tony Armstrong (Australian Rules Footballer)
Tony Armstrong (born 29 September 1989) is an Aboriginal Australian television presenter and former professional Australian rules footballer. Tony played for the Adelaide Football Club, Sydney Swans and Collingwood Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He is currently sport presenter of the ABC's morning program ''News Breakfast''. For his work on this show, he won the Graham Kennedy Award for Most Popular New Talent at the 2022 Logies. TV Tonight is an Australian-based website which features reviews, news and programming information related to television in Australia as well as OzTAM ratings information. The site was started by television critic David Knox in 2007 after listeners of his radio programs asked him for information they had missed. Knox runs the site, publishing his interviews with Australian media actors, producers, directors and programmers. Knox regularly visits the sets of Australian television series and reviews television programs. Knox also served as television critic for Radio National's breakfast program from 2009 to 2015. Joe O'Brien (born 1968 or 1969) is an Australian journalist and news presenter. O'Brien is best known for his lengthy tenure hosting ''ABC News Mornings'' on the ABC News channel, which he has hosted since the channel's inception in 2010 until 2023. He joined the Australian Broadcasting Corporation in 1995, initially based at the local ABC station in Rockhampton, Queensland before moving to Brisbane where he worked as a reporter and presenter. Barrie Cassidy (born 4 March 1950) is an Australian political journalist, as well as a radio and television host and presenter and commentator for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. He was the long-running host of the Sunday morning political commentary program '' Insiders'' from 2001 to 2019, and in 2020 took over as the host of the long form interview program ''One Plus One''.
