ABC Me (stylised as ABC ME) is an Australian English language children's free-to-air television channel owned by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. It was officially launched by Prime Minister Kevin Rudd on 4 December 2009 as ABC3. History In September 2009, the Australian government announced a proposal to launch a new digital-only children's channel, ABC3. A new ABC channel appeared on television receivers in 2008, as a placeholder for the future ABC3 channel. ABC3 was considered by the Australia 2020 Summit and given as one of the recommendations to the Government. In April 2009, the Government's official response to the Summit approved the idea, and in the 2009–10 Commonwealth Budget $67 million was allocated towards ABC3 as part of the Government's $167 million funding increase to the ABC. Studio 3 (TV Series)
''Studio 3'' was an Australian children's television block, which was premiered on ABC3 along with the channel's launch in 2009. The program premiered on 7 December 2009, originally presented by Amberley Lobo and Kayne Tremills. The block was composed of small hosted segments which serve as links between external programs on the channel. The show was removed when ABC3 rebranded as ABC ME on 19 September 2016. The final presenters were James Elmer, Grace Koh and Tim Matthews. Prank Patrol (Australian TV Series)
''Prank Patrol'' (known as ''Prank Patrol: Road Trip'' for its third season, also known as ''Prank Patrol Down Under'' in the UK) was the Australian version of the original Canadian series ''Prank Patrol''. The show was made for the then new ABC3 channel ''(now ABC ME)'' which specialised in children's programming. It is hosted by Scott “Scotty” Tweedie and produced by the ABC. Premise The show follows Scotty and his ninjas helping children to pull off a prank against someone they know, such as a parent or friend. Scotty then takes the new recruit to their "HQ", where they establish a plan to prank their target. Scotty meets with real prank experts, such as special effects experts and makeup or costume artists. The new recruit calls their target to lure them into the prank. ABC Television (Australian TV Network)
ABC Television is the general name for the national television services of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). Until an organisational restructure in 2017/2018, ABC Television was also the name of a division of the ABC. The name was also used to refer to the first and for many years the only national ABC channel, before it was renamed ABC1 and then again to ABC TV. Amberley "Ambo" Lobo (born 30 October 1990) is an Australian television presenter best known for her role as a host on Australian children's television program ''Studio 3'', which was on ABC 3. Early life Lobo was born in Perth, Western Australia, and grew up in South Hedland. Her father is from India and her mother is from New Zealand. Her television career began in 2009 after she was selected from a nationwide search conducted by the ABC. Kayne Tremills (born 23 January 1987) is an Australian television presenter best known for his role as a host on Australian children's television programme Studio 3, which was broadcast on ABC3. Career In 2009, the ABC launched a nationwide campaign, called Me on 3. The goal was to find two faces for a new television channel, ABC3. The competition was entered by 5700 people. ABC Kids is the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's part-time channel, broadcasting shows between the hours of 5am and 7:30pm for children under 6 years old in each local Australian channel. It shares the same bandwidth as ABC TV Plus which broadcasts outside ABC Kids' scheduled hours and supplements the flagship ABC TV channel with extra adult-oriented programming. ABC TV Plus (formerly ABC2 and ABC Comedy) is an Australian free-to-air television channel owned by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and part of its ABC Television network.
