	Cinema Of Burma The cinema of Burma has a long history dating back to the 1910s. The person who created the first silent film was Ohn Maung (Burma's first producer and director). Start of the Burmese cinema Burma's first film was a recording of the funeral of Tun Shein - a leading politician of the 1910s, who campaigned for Burmese independence in London. It was captured with a second-hand camera by Ohn Maung and was screened at the Royal Cinema, near Scott Market (now Bogyoke Market), which belonged to a Mr Achar, a friend of Ohn Maung. Despite its documentary nature, the Burmese public was very proud of the film, which opened with the notice "Please accept our apologies for the poor quality of the film". A1 film company produced this film with PCL Film Company in Japan, Tokyo. It opened on 30 November 1935 at the Bayin Cinema and the Olympia Cinema. 	Tin Maung ''A1'' Tin Maung ( my, တင်မောင် ; 7 August 1908 – 4 October 2000) was a two-time Burmese Academy Award-winning film actor, director and producer. Biography Tin Maung was born in Pyay, a small town in Lower Burma during the British colonial rule. The youngest brother of Nyi Pu, a famous Burmese actor of early Burmese cinema, Tin Maung began his film career at age 10, in 1923, appearing in ''Taw Myaing Zon Ga Lwan Aung Phan''. In 1934, while enrolled in Rangoon University, Tin Maung joined the A1 Film Company–the preeminent film studio of the time to appear in the film ''Mya Ganaing''. He quickly became known as A1 Tin Maung, one of the studio's stable of stars. In 1937, Tin Maung directed ''Aung Thabyay'' about the final days of King Thibaw, Burma's last monarch, who died an embittered man in exile in India. 	May Shin May Shin ( my, မေရှင်; ; 10 March 1917 – 3 September 2008) was a Burmese actress and singer, who was popular from the 1930s to the 1950s. Biography May Shin was born Than Shin (, ) in 1917 to businessman Khin Lay () and his wife Pwa Yon (). in Mandalay in British Burma. She was the youngest of five siblings. She passed seventh grade from Wesleyan School. At 18, May Shin joined A1 Film Company as an aspiring actress. She was soon highly acclaimed for her soft gentle singing voice. Her first film was ''Hpuza Shin'', starring opposite actor Yegaung Chit Swe but she became known in the first Burmese sound film ''Hmya Nat Maung''.
