Azovmash Mariupol
MBK Mariupol ( uk, МБК «Маріуполь»") (former name: BK Azovmash)is a Ukrainian Basketball Super League, Ukrainian professional basketball club. It was founded in 1990 in the city of Mariupol in South-Eastern Ukraine. Mariupol was one of the strongest teams in Ukraine along with BC Kyiv, Kyiv, BC Khimik, Khimik and, BC Cherkasy, Cherkasy. The team's performance peak was an appearance in the EuroChallenge, EuroCup Final of 2007, against CB Girona, Akasvayu Girona. History The club was founded in 1990. Azovmash moved up from the Ukrainian third to first division by 1999. Azovmash won the 2002 Ukrainian Basketball Super League, Ukrainian SuperLeague title. Established in 1992, the league is currently contested by 10 clubs. It is a tier above the Ukrainian Higher League and allows for one season from the Higher League each season to be promoted. The league exists out of a regular season, in which team play for playoff-seeding, followed by playoffs to determine the Ukrainian champion. Serhiy Lishchuk
Serhiy Lishchuk (alternate spelling: Sergei Lishouk) ( ua, Сергій Ліщук; born March 31, 1982) is a Ukrainian retired basketball player. Lishchuk played 18 seasons as a professional player in Ukraine and Spain. Professional career Europe Lishchuk began his professional career in his native Ukraine. On September 2, 2009, he signed with the Spanish club València Bàsket. With Valencia, he won the 2nd-tier level European-wide league, the EuroCup, during both the 2009–10 season and the 2013–14 season. He left Valencia on June 22, 2015. On July 23, 2015, he signed with the Spanish club UCAM Murcia of the Liga ACB. NBA draft rights Lishchuk was selected by the NBA's Memphis Grizzlies in the 2004 NBA Draft. 2009–10 Eurocup Basketball
2009–10 Eurocup Basketball was the eighth edition of Europe's second-tier level transnational competition for men's professional basketball clubs, the EuroCup. The EuroCup is the European-wide league level that is one tier below the EuroLeague level. It began with qualifying round matches on October 20, 2009, and ended with the Eurocup Finals on April 17 and 18, 2010, at Fernando Buesa Arena in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Basque Country, Spain. The competition was won by Spanish club Power Electronics Valencia, who won their second EuroCup title, and also secured a place in the 2010–11 edition of the EuroCup's parent competition, the EuroLeague. 2008–09 Eurocup Basketball
2008–09 Eurocup Basketball was the seventh edition of Europe's second-tier level transnational competition for men's professional basketball clubs, the EuroCup, and the first to be contested under the Eurocup name. From the inception of the competition in 2002, it had been known as the ULEB Cup. The EuroCup is the European-wide league level that is one tier below the EuroLeague level. During this season, there were 48 teams, from 22 countries. After the preliminary rounds, there were 32 teams left for the regular season, with the 16 eliminated teams being relegated down and parachuting into Europe's third-tier transnational competition, the EuroChallenge. Lithuanian club Lietuvos Rytas of Vilnius, won the tournament and promotion to the top level EuroLeague for the next season. Club Bàsquet Sant Josep was a professional basketball team based in Girona, Catalonia, Spain. History The club was founded in 1962 by Ramon Sitjà as CB Sant Josep. In 1989 it became the Anonymous Sport Association (SAD). In 1987, when the ACB was enlarged to 24 teams, CB Girona entered the first division. In 1991, the club had to buy the rights of the Granollers EB to stay in the ACB as they were going to be relegated to the second division. In 2007, Girona won the FIBA EuroCup championship, which was hosted at Palau Girona-Fontajau arena. They beat Azovmash Mariupol in the final after having beaten Adecco Estudiantes in the semifinals. The Liga ACB, known as Liga Endesa for sponsorship reasons, is the top professional basketball division of the Spanish basketball league system. Administrated by the Asociación de Clubs de Baloncesto (ACB), Liga ACB is contested by 18 teams, with the two lowest-placed teams relegated to the LEB Oro and replaced by the top team in that division plus the winner of the promotion playoffs.
