Azerbaijan In The Eurovision Song Contest
Azerbaijan has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 14 times since making its debut in , after İctimai Televiziya (İTV) became an active member of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). İTV had broadcast the Eurovision Song Contest in previous years, purchasing broadcasting rights from the EBU. Azerbaijan was the last country in the Caucasus to debut in the contest and the first to win. Azerbaijan won the contest in 2011, with Ell and Nikki and the song " Running Scared" setting the record for the lowest average score for a winning song under the 12-points voting system, with 5.26 points per country. The country achieved five consecutive top-five results in the contest between 2009 and 2013, finishing third (2009) and fifth (2010) before their 2011 win and fourth (2012) and second (2013) following their win. İctimai Television
İctimai Television ( , “Public Television”), or İTV, is a public television channel in Azerbaijan. It officially began broadcasting on 29 August 2005 after being created by law in the beginning of 2004, as the first independent public broadcaster in Azerbaijan. The channel is based in Baku. Organisation İTV is primarily funded through advertising and government payments. The law of January 2004 creating the channel called for funding to come from a television licence fee beginning in January 2010, but this portion of the law has currently yet to be implemented as of . The channel is operated by the Public Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (), which consists of a nine member council whose members are approved by the President of Azerbaijan and a director general elected by the council and also approved by the President. Farid Mammadov ( az , Fərid Məmmədov; born 30 August 1991, in Baku) is an Azerbaijani singer. He represented Azerbaijan in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013, Azerbaijan in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Malmö with the song "Hold Me (Farid Mammadov song), Hold Me" and came second after Denmark. Dilara Kazimova
Dilara Kazimova ( az , Dilarə Kazımova ; born 20 May 1984) is an Azerbaijani singer and actress. She represented Azerbaijan in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen with the song " Start a Fire". Career Born in Baku, Kazimova studied vocal arts at the Baku Academy of Music. After graduating, she briefly performed as part of an opera troupe. From the early 2000s, she was a member of the rock band Unformal and later the lead singer for the duo Milk & Kisses. Azerbaijan participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 with the song "Hold Me" written by Dimitris Kontopoulos, John Ballard (record producer), John Ballard and Ralph Charlie. Azerbaijan participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 with the song "When the Music Dies" written by Anders Bagge, Sandra Bjurman, Stefan Örn and Johan Kronlund. The song was performed by Sabina Babayeva. Drip Drop (Safura Song)
"Drip Drop" is a song by Azerbaijani singer Safura Alizadeh, written by Anders Bagge, Stefan Örn, Piotr Wass and Sandra Bjurman, and represented Azerbaijan at the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 in May 2010. Alizadeh's song was selected by a jury from the Azeri broadcaster İctimai Televiziya və Radio Yayımları Şirkəti (İTV). On 29 May 2010 "Drip Drop" gained the fifth place at the Eurovision 2010 final. Safura Alizadeh Aliyev (born 20 September 1992) is an Azerbaijani pop singer. In 2009, she became the winner of the national contest "Pop Idol" (season 8). In 2010, Safura took part in the Eurovision Song Contest, where she brought Azerbaijan on 5th place in the final, with the song ''Drip Drop'', where she only was 17 years old. Arash Labbaf ( fa, آرش لباف, ; born 23 April 1977) is an Iranian-Swedish singer, entertainer, and producer. He represented Azerbaijan along with Aysel in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009, finishing third with the song " Always".
