Badminton
Badminton is a racquet sport played using racquets to hit a shuttlecock across a net. Although it may be played with larger teams, the most common forms of the game are "singles" (with one player per side) and "doubles" (with two players per side). Badminton is often played as a casual outdoor activity in a yard or on a beach; formal games are played on a rectangular indoor court. Points are scored by striking the shuttlecock with the racquet and landing it within the opposing side's half of the court. Each side may only strike the shuttlecock once before it passes over the net. Play ends once the shuttlecock has struck the floor or if a fault has been called by the umpire, service judge, or (in their absence) the opposing side. The shuttlecock is a feathered or (in informal matches) plastic projectile which flies differently from the balls used in many other sports. Baku (, ; az, Bakı ) is the capital and largest city of Azerbaijan, as well as the largest city on the Caspian Sea and of the Caucasus region. Badminton World Federation
The Badminton World Federation (BWF) is the international governing body for the sport of badminton recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). It was founded in 1934 as the International Badminton Federation (IBF) with nine member nations (Canada, Denmark, England, France, Ireland, Netherlands, New Zealand, Scotland and Wales). In 1981 the IBF merged with the World Badminton Federation, and on 24 September 2006, at the Extraordinary General Meeting in Madrid, the name of the organization was changed to Badminton World Federation (BWF). When the BWF was founded (as the IBF), its head office was located in Cheltenham, UK. The head office was relocated to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on October 1, 2005. Rasmus Gemke (born 11 January 1997) is a Danish badminton player. He was awarded the 2012 Badminton Denmark Comet of the Year. He was part of the Danish national U-19 team to win bronze at the 2015 European Junior Badminton Championships in Lubin, Poland. Phittayaporn Chaiwan
Lalinrat Chaiwan ( th, ลลินรัตน์ ไชยวรรณ; born Pattarasuda Chaiwan ( th, ภัทรสุดา ไชยวรรณ), 21 February 2001) is a Thai badminton player. She has shown her talent as a badminton player in the junior event tournament. She changed her first name to Phittayaporn ( th, พิทยาภรณ์) after visiting a temple for prayers for a brighter career in badminton. She was crowned champion at the Grand Prix junior tournament in 2017 India and 2018 German, also occupied the girls' singles number 1 in the BWF World Junior Ranking. Mark Lamsfuß
Mark Lamsfuß (born 19 April 1994) is a German badminton player and plays for the BC Wipperfeld. He and his partner, Isabel Lohau won a bronze medal in mixed doubles at the 2022 BWF World Championships. Career Lamsfuß started playing badminton at aged 3, and in 2013 he won the Dutch Open Junior tournament in the mixed doubles event partnered with Franziska Volkmann. He and Volkmann also won bronze at the 2013 European Junior Badminton Championships. Chloe Birch
Chloe Francesca Hannah Birch (born 16 September 1995) is an English badminton player. She was introduced to badminton through school and started playing at age eight at Abbeydale Badminton Club. Birch received the Michael Vaughan Award from Silverdale School, and competed at the Australian Youth Olympic Festival in 2013. She was the runner-up in 2016 English National Championships Women's singles. Birch was part of the English team that won the mixed team bronze at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast. Lauren Smith (badminton)
Lauren Smith (born 26 September 1991) is an English badminton player. She competed for England in the women's doubles and mixed team events at the 2014 Commonwealth Games where she won a bronze and silver medal respectively. In 2016, she represented Great Britain at the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Teamed-up with Gabby Adcock, she won the women's doubles gold medals at the English National Badminton Championships in 2013 and 2014.
