Antonio Azara (1883–1967) was an Italian jurist and politician who served as the Italian Minister of Justice, minister of grace and justice from August 1953 to January 1954. Early life and education Azara was born in Tempio Pausania on 18 January 1883. He received a bachelor's degree in law specializing on Family law, family and agricultural law. Career In 1907 Azara became attorney general and first president of the Supreme Court of Cassation (Italy), Supreme Court. He was also the secretary of the code reform commission. In 1932 he joined the National Fascist Party. Before his formal party membership he had been supporting National Fascist movement, ideas and doctrines through his writings and activities. As of 1945 he was a member of the scientific committee of the magazine entitled ''Diritto razzista'' (Italian: ''Racist Law''). Félix Manuel de Azara y Perera (18 May 1746 – 20 October 1821) was a Spanish military officer, naturalist, and engineer. Life Félix de Azara was born on 18 May 1746 in Barbunales, Aragon. He joined the army and attended a Spanish military academy. He was commissioned as an engineer, distinguishing himself on various expeditions. He spent the next thirteen years of his life in the military and rose to the rank of brigadier general in the Spanish Army. In 1777, Spain and Portugal signed the Treaty of San Ildefonso. As dictated by the treaty, each nation would send a delegation to the Río de la Plata region to negotiate the border dispute between the Portuguese and Spanish colonies. Azara was selected as a member of this delegation, departing quickly for the New World. The Portuguese delegation, however, never arrived, and Azara ended up remaining in the region from 1781 to 1801. To pass the time, he decided to create an accurate map of the region. José Nicolás De Azara
Don José Nicolás de Azara y Perera (5 December 173026 January 1804) was a Spanish diplomat. Life He was born at Barbunales, Aragon, and was appointed in 1765 Spanish agent and procurator-general, and in 1785 ambassador at Rome. During his long residence there he distinguished himself as a collector of Italian antiquities and as a patron of art. He was a follower of Johann Joachim Winckelmann and bought the posthumous portrait painted as a memorial to him by Mengs. Some of the items in his collection came from excavations he conducted near Rome. He was also an able and active diplomat, took a lead part in the difficult and hazardous task of the expulsion of the Jesuits from Spain, and was instrumental in securing the election of Pope Pius VI. Azara was the Pope's representative during the negotiations with France for the Armistice of Bologna. Joseph Franz Hedwig Loeckx is a Belgian comic book artist. He works under the pseudonym of Jo-El Azara. Important series he has worked on include ''Clifton'' and ''Taka Takata''. Biography Loeckx was born in Drogenbos, Flemish Brabant, near Brussels, Belgium, on 4 May 1937. Loeckx is sometimes referred to as Joseph-R. Loeckx but this is an error. During his working life, first he used the penname of Jo-El, subsequently Ernest, and thereafter worked as Jo-El Azara, under which name he has drawn most of his comics. Nancy J. Azara (born October 13, 1939) is an American sculptor. Her work involves sculpture using carved, assembled and highly painted wood with gold and silver leaf and encaustic. The wood, the paint and the layers that make up the sculpture record a journey of memory, images and ideas. Azara's other art pieces involve collages, banners, prints where she continuously reshapes the elements and materials. Azara has worked and carved in wood for many years because of the presence and symbolism inherent in trees and because the metaphor of the tree is a “stand-in” for herself. ''Azara'' is a genus of ten species of flowering plants in the family Salicaceae, native to temperate to subtropical regions of South America. They are most often found at woodland margins and lakesides. ''Azara'' was formerly classed in the family Flacourtiaceae. They are evergreen shrubs and small trees growing to 1–8 m tall. The leaves are alternate, or in some species they appear paired, are simple 1–9 cm long and 0.5–5 cm broad. The opposite-leaved appearance of some species is unusual in that one stipule is enlarged giving the appearance of opposite paired"leaves. The flowers are small, yellow or greenish, strongly fragrant, with a 4-5-lobed calyx and no petals but conspicuous long, often brightly colored, stamens; flowering is in spring. John Knowles Paine (January 9, 1839 – April 25, 1906) was the first American-born composer to achieve fame for large-scale orchestral music.
