AyaÅŸ, Mersin
AyaÅŸ is a neighbourhood in the municipality and district of Erdemli, Mersin Province, Turkey. Its population is 2,634 (2022). Before the 2013 Turkish local government reorganisation, 2013 reorganisation, it was a town (''belde''). Geography AyaÅŸ lies on the Turkish state highway State road D.400 (Turkey), D.400. It is located 55 kilometers (34 mi) away from Mersin and from Erdemli. The town is situated at the Mediterranean Sea, Mediterranean coast and there are two beaches of touristic potential, ''YemiÅŸkumu'' and ''Merdivenkuyu''. History AyaÅŸ had been inhabited since the ancient ages. Ancient Ayas was an island named Elaiussa and a town on the shore facing the island named Sebaste. Erdemli
Erdemli is a municipality and district of Mersin Province, Turkey. Its area is 2,279 km2, and its population is 151,928 (2022). It is west of the city of Mersin. Geography Erdemli is located between the districts of Mezitli (to the east) and Silifke (to the west). In the north, Erdemli is bordered by Karaman Province and in the south by the Mediterranean Sea. The district extends from the Mediterranean coastal plain, the largest agricultural area in Mersin Province, to high in the Taurus Mountains where there is forest, and then a large area (half the land area of the district) is high mountain above the treeline.
