JKT48 is an Indonesian girl group formed in 2011 as a sister group of the Japanese idol group AKB48. Since 2021, members are selected through auditions in Jakarta, Indonesia. Among the members are Trainees who serve as understudies for the main members. Those who leave the group on amiable terms are considered "graduates" and given a last theater show, sometimes accompanied with either a special graduation show or concert. All of the group's current members are Indonesians. However there had been some Japanese in the group, as well as a Malaysian. Non-Indonesian members are denoted with a flag before their name. As of 31 October 2022, JKT48 individually has 47 members. On 11 January 2021, it was announced that the group would forcibly mass-graduate 26 of its members as it was hit by crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and government-imposed large-scale social restrictions. JKT48 (read as "J. K. T. forty-eight") is an Indonesian-Japanese idol girl group whose name is derived from its based city of Jakarta and the Japanese idol group AKB48. Formed in 2011, the group is the first AKB48 sister group outside Japan and adopts the concept of "idols you can meet", before switching to "idols that will come to meet you" since April 8, 2018. The group opened their own theater in the 4th floor of fX Sudirman shopping mall in early September 2012, where fans can attend daily performances (except on Monday). The theater was built as a close replica to the AKB48 Theater in Akihabara. While JKT48 does not restrict membership by nationality, applicants must be residents of Indonesia. , is a Japanese media personality based in Indonesia. She is a former member of the Japanese idol group AKB48 and its sub-unit Watarirouka Hashiritai, as well as its Indonesian sister group JKT48, all produced by Yasushi Akimoto. is Japanese idol group AKB48's 17th single, released on August 18, 2010. The video was directed by photographer and movie producer Mika Ninagawa. The title song of this single, widely known as , was a huge karaoke hit and lead the respective JOYSOUND charts for 43 weeks. As of July 2020, the song has been covered in Indonesian by JKT48, in Mandarin by three different groups SNH48, AKB48 Team SH and AKB48 Team TP, in Tagalog by MNL48, in Vietnamese by SGO48, and in Thai by BNK48. 2010 general election The group's previous single, "Ponytail to Shushu", contained tickets in which buyers would vote for a member that would participate in the title track for "Heavy Rotation".
