Witold Leszczyński
Witold Leszczyński (16 August 1933 – 1 September 2007) was a Polish film director and screenwriter. In 1967 he graduated from the National Film School in Łódź. He directed over thirty films between 1959 and 2007. Most known for ''Żywot Mateusza'' (''Matthew's Days'') based on a novel by Norwegian writer Tarjei Vesaas, ''Konopielka'', adapted from the novel of Edward Redliński , ''Siekierezada'' based on a novel by Edward Stachura and many others films. He received numerous awards, including Grand Prix at the Polish Film Festival in 1986. Franciszek Maksymilian Pieczka (18 January 1928 – 23 September 2022) was a Polish actor. A graduate of the National Higher School of Theatre in Warsaw (1954), he first made his debut in the theatre in Jelenia Góra. He won the award for Best Actor at the Polish Film Festival in 1976 for '' The Scar''. In 2015, he was awarded the Polish Academy Life Achievement Award. Poland has submitted films for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film on a regular basis since 1963. The Oscar is handed out annually by the United States Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to a feature-length motion picture produced outside the United States that contains primarily non-English dialogue. It was not created until the 1956 Academy Awards, in which a competitive Academy Award of Merit, known as the Best Foreign Language Film Award, was created for non-English speaking films, and has been given annually since. Daniel Marcel Olbrychski (; born 27 February 1945) is a Polish film and theatre actor who is widely considered one of the greatest Polish actors of his generation. He appeared in 180 films and TV productions and is best known for leading roles in several Andrzej Wajda movies including '' The Promised Land'' and also known for playing a defector and spymaster Vassily Orlov alongside Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie in the movie ''Salt''.
