Axel Vidjeskog
Axel Vidjeskog (born 14 April 2001) is a Finnish professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for KuPS in the Veikkausliiga. Club career Vidjeskog began to play football in the youth program of FF Jaro. He started his senior career in 2017, playing for Jaro first team in the second-tier Ykkönen, and for the reserve team Jakobstads BK in the third-tier Kakkonen. For the 2021 season, Vidjeskog joined a Veikkausliiga club Kuopion Palloseura (KuPS). At the start of the 2022 season, he was loaned out to fellow Veikkausliiga side Ilves. He returned to KuPS in July, after his loan deal expired. On 13 November 2023, he extended his contract with KuPS until the end of 2024. Personal life Vidjeskog is a Swedish-speaking Finn. His two brothers are both also professional footballers. The younger brother Isak Vidjeskog plays for Varbergs BoIS, and the older Adam Vidjeskog plays for Jaro. 2024 Veikkausliiga
The 2024 Veikkausliiga is the 94th season of top-tier football in Finland, which takes place from April to November. Veikkaus was the league's sponsor. Teams The league consisted of twelve teams; ten teams remaining from the previous season, and two teams promoted from the Ykkönen. HJK entered the season as defending champions. The 2018 Ykkönen was the 47th season of Ykkönen, the second highest football league in Finland. The season began on 28 April 2018 and ended on 27 October 2018. The winning team was directly promoted to the 2019 Veikkausliiga, while the second-placed team played a play-off against the eleventh-placed team from Veikkausliiga to decide who would play in that division. The bottom two teams were relegated to Kakkonen. A total of 36 teams contested the league divided into three groups, Lohko A (Group A), Lohko B (Group B) and Lohko C (Group C). 25 returning from the 2019 season, two relegated from Ykkönen and nine promoted from Kolmonen. The top four of each group will qualify to promotion matches to decide which three teams get promoted to the Ykkönen. The bottom two teams in each group will get relegated to the Kolmonen. Each team will play a total of 22 matches, playing twice against each team of its group. Finnish League Cup
The Finnish League Cup was a knock-out association football, football competition contested annually during the pre-season in winter by teams from Veikkausliiga. The league cup was abolished after the 2016 tournament and replaced with the Finnish Cup group stage starting from the 2017 season. League cup will be played again in spring of 2022. Niklas Vidjeskog (born 24 February 1969) is a Finnish football manager and a former player, who played as a midfielder. He is currently the manager of FF Jaro in Ykkösliiga. He has completed the UEFA A coaching license. Playing career As a player, Vidjeskog has made 149 total appearances in Veikkausliiga for Jaro and KPV.
