Speaker Of The Riksdag
The speaker of the Riksdag ( sv, Riksdagens talman) is the speaker (politics), presiding officer of the national unicameral legislature in Sweden. The Riksdag underwent profound changes in 1867, when the medieval Riksdag of the Estates was abolished. The new form of the Riksdag included bicameral system, two elected chambers, each with its own speaker. Since the ''de facto'' introduction of parliamentarism in 1917, the Riksdag has properly functioned as the institution to which the prime minister and the Government of Sweden, government are held accountable. In 1971 the institution was transformed into a unicameral legislature with 350 members, reduced to 349 in 1976 to avoid parliamentary deadlocks. His Majesty's Marshal of the Realm ( sv, Hans Majestät Konungens riksmarskalk) who heads the Office of the Marshal of the Realm ( sv, Riksmarskalksämbetet), is the highest official in the Royal Court of Sweden. Oscar Fredrik von Sydow (12 July 1873 – 19 August 1936) was a Swedish politician who served briefly as Prime Minister of Sweden from 23 February to 13 October 1921. Biography Oscar von Sydow was the son of Henrik August von Sydow, a magistrate's clerk, and Euphrosyne Maria Modin. He was born in Kalmar and raised in Norrland. In 1890, he passed his higher education examination and proceeded to study Law at Uppsala University. In 1894, he graduated with a degree in the civil service. In 1906, von Sydow was appointed Undersecretary of State at the Ministry for Civil Service Affairs, and in 1911 he became the Governor of Norrbotten County. Birger Ekeberg
Birger Ekeberg (1880–1968) was a Swedish jurist and legal scholar. He served as justice minister of Sweden, and during his tenure the Swedish Parliament abolished the death penalty on 7 May 1921. Early life and education Ekeberg was born in Uppsala on 10 August 1880. He graduated from Uppsala University in 1902 receiving a degree in law. He completed his PhD in private law at the same university in 1904 and became an associate professor the same year. Career Following his graduation he joined his alma mater as a faculty member where he worked until 1907 when he began to work at the newly founded law faculty of Stockholm University. There he was the professor of private and civil law and a member of the Swedish Academy between 1945 and 1968. He was first appointed minister of justice in 1920 and served in the post for one year.
