Awutu-Senya West is one of the constituencies represented in the Parliament of Ghana. It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election. The Awutu-Senya West constituency is located in the Awutu Senya District of the Central Region of Ghana. In 2012, ahead of the 2012 elections, the Awutu-Senya West Constituency was carved out of the then Awutu-Senya constituency. Awutu Senya District
Awutu Senya District is a former district that was located in Central Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Awutu/Effutu/Senya District on 29 February 2008. However on 28 June 2012, it was split out into two new districts: Awutu Senya West District (capital: Awutu Breku) and Awutu Senya East District (which was later elevated to municipal district assembly status on 15 March 2018; capital: Kasoa Kasoa, formerly known as Odupongkpehe, is a peri-urban town in the Awutu Senya East Municipal District of the Central region of Ghana. The Parliament of Ghana is the legislative body of the Government of Ghana. History Legislative representation in Ghana dates back to 1850, when the country was a British colony known as Gold Coast. First Past The Post
In a first-past-the-post electoral system (FPTP or FPP), formally called single-member plurality voting (SMP) when used in single-member districts or informally choose-one voting in contrast to ranked voting, or score voting, voters cast their vote for a candidate of their choice, and the candidate who receives the most votes wins even if the top candidate gets less than 50%, which can happen when there are more than two popular candidates. Hanna Tetteh
Hanna Serwaa Tetteh (born 31 May 1967) is a Ghanaian barrister and politician. She served in the cabinet of Ghana as Minister for Trade and Industry from 2009 to 2013 and Minister for Foreign Affairs from 2013 to 2017. She was also the Member of Parliament for the Awutu-Senya West constituency. Gizella Akushika Tetteh-Agbotui is a Ghanaian architect and politician. She contested in the 2020 Ghanaian General Election and won the parliamentary seat for the Awutu Senya West Constituency.
