Embarrassment or awkwardness is an emotional state that is associated with mild to severe levels of discomfort, and which is usually experienced when someone commits (or thinks of) a socially unacceptable or frowned-upon act that is witnessed by or revealed to others. Frequently grouped with shame and guilt, embarrassment is considered a “ self-conscious emotion,” and it can have a profoundly negative impact on a person’s thoughts or behavior. Usually, some perception of loss of honor or dignity (or other high-value ideals) is involved, but the embarrassment level and the type depends on the situation. Awkward (TV Series)
''Awkward'' is an American teen comedy-drama television series created by Lauren Iungerich for MTV. The show's central character is Jenna Hamilton (Ashley Rickards), a Palos Verdes, California, teenager who struggles with her identity, especially after an accident is misconstrued as a suicide attempt. The series premiered on July 19, 2011, and was renewed for a second season in August 2011. In June 2013, it was announced that creator Iungerich would be exiting the series after production of the third season concluded in June 2013. MTV renewed the series for a fourth season in August 2013 with new showrunners Chris Alberghini and Mike Chessler replacing Iungerich. Ariel Schrag (born December 29, 1979) is an American cartoonist and television writer who achieved critical recognition at an early age for her autobiographical comics. Her novel ''Adam'' provoked controversy with its theme of a heterosexual teenage boy becoming drawn into the LGBTQ community of New York. Schrag accepts the label of ‘dyke comic book artist’. Career While attending Berkeley High School in Berkeley, California, Schrag self-published her first comic series, ''Awkward'', depicting events from her first year, originally selling copies to friends and family. Schrag then published three more graphic novels based on her next three years of school: ''Definition,'' ''Potential,'' and ''Likewise''. ''Awkward'' is a children's graphic novel written by Svetlana Chmakova. The book tells the story of Penelope "Peppi" Torres, a new student at Berrybrook Middle School, whose first encounter with a boy from the science club leads to much awkwardness between them, and their sparring clubs. Themes Awkward's main theme is that of friendship, directly addressing the mocking boys and girls get for being friends, and the hardships of navigating friend group drama. It also touches on growing up, and not putting yourself in a box. The fourth book in the series, ''Diary'', features additional stories with the characters from ''Awkward''. ''Just Bring It'' is the fourth studio album and first full-length album by Japanese band Band-Maid, released on January 11, 2017 in Japan via Crown Stones and February 10, 2017 internationally by JPU Records. ''We Can Replace You'' is the debut CD of the Chicago-based rock band, The Cells. It was released in 2002 on Orange Recordings. The disc was recorded and produced by Andrew Gerber at Million Yen Studio. History The disc was recorded by the band's initial founding lineup consisting of singer/guitarist Cory Hance, singer/guitarist Pat McIntyre, bassist Brede Hovland, and drummer Randy Payne over the course of a year. Though Million Yen Studio has since moved to a larger, more studio-like location, ''We Can Replace You'' was tracked and mixed in Andy Gerber's apartment in Chicago's Humboldt Park neighborhood, with his upstairs neighbor's kitchen serving as the isolation room for the drums and bass. Founding bassist Brede Hovland laid down his final bass and vocal tracks just a day before leaving the band and Chicago to pursue a film production career in Los Angeles. San Cisco
San Cisco is an Australian indie pop band that formed in 2009 under the original name of King George, in Fremantle, Western Australia. The band are a Trio (music), three-piece, and currently consists of Jordi Davieson (guitar, lead vocals), Josh Biondillo (guitar, vocals) and Scarlett Stevens (drums, vocals). Davieson and Biondillo share duties on keyboards. In November 2011, the band was signed by Albert Productions, but moved to Island Records for the release of its debut album.
