Awilda Sterling-Duprey
Awilda Sterling-Duprey is an artist, dancer, and choreographer, and an important figure in Puerto Rico's art scene. Biography Awilda Sterling-Duprey was born in Barrio Obrero, Santurce, Puerto Rico. She earned her bachelor's degree in painting from the Escuela de Artes Plásticas in 1971. Obrero (often called Barrio Obrero) is one of 40 subbarrios of Santurce in the municipality of San Juan, Puerto Rico. Obrero is the most populated subbarrio in Santurce. The Escuela de Artes Plásticas y Diseño de Puerto Rico ( en, School of Plastic Arts and Design of Puerto Rico) is an institution of higher learning engaged in the training of students in the visual arts.
