''Awaken Love'' is the second studio album by Matt Gilman. Forerunner Music released the album on August 27, 2013. Gilman worked with Ed Cash in the production of this album. Critical reception Awarding the album three stars for ''CCM Magazine'', Matt Conner states, "it’s the worship leader’s incredible voice that tops the list." Mike Rimmer, rating the album an eight out of ten for Cross Rhythms, writes, "It's intimate worship ballads and anthems all the way here and I think I like it best when Matt chooses to go in an intense direction." Matthew Thomas "Matt" Gilman (born July 15, 1985) is an American Christian musician. His first release was with International House of Prayer, Forerunner Music in 2008, ''Holy'', with Cory Asbury. The second album, ''Awaken Love'', was released in 2013 by Forerunner Music. This album was his breakthrough release upon the Billboard (magazine), ''Billboard'' magazine Christian Albums and Top Heatseekers, Heatseekers Albums charts. He currently leads worship with Influence Music, who are based at Influence Church. Early life Gilman was born on July 15, 1985, in Minneapolis, Minneapolis, Minnesota to a Lutheran-preacher father, Thomas Richard Gilman, and mother, Patricia Lynn Monnier. He started to lead worship services at his father's church when he was 14 years old. Contemporary Christian Music
Contemporary Christian music, also known as CCM, Christian pop, and occasionally inspirational music is a genre of modern popular music, and an aspect of Christian media, which is lyrically focused on matters related to the Christian faith and stylistically rooted in Christian music. Edmond Martin Cash (born August 6, 1971) is a producer, songwriter, engineer, and multi-instrumentalist. History ''CCM'' was first published in July 1978, as a printed magazine. It has been owned by Salem since 1999. Cross Rhythms is a Christian media organisation based in Stoke-on-Trent, England. It operates an FM and online radio station, produces radio shows sent internationally, and its website has resources about contemporary Christian music. Top Heatseekers are "Breaking and Entering" music charts issued weekly by ''Billboard'' magazine. The Heatseekers Albums and the Heatseekers Songs charts were introduced by ''Billboard'' in 1991 with the purpose of highlighting the sales by new and developing musical recording artists.
