Awake (Secondhand Serenade Album)
''Awake'' is the debut album by American acoustic rock musician, John Vesely, under the pseudonym Secondhand Serenade. The album was originally released as a demo, in 2005. In late 2006, Secondhand Serenade signed to label Glassnote Records and re-released the album on January 31, 2007. Re-release In early 2007, the album was reissued by Glassnote Records with an additional two songs. It was released on February 6 and gave Vesely his first chartings, debuting at #16 on ''Billboard''s Top Heatseekers chart. Added success lead to it peaking at #164 on the ''Billboard'' 200, #3 on the Top Heatseekers and #19 on the Top Independent Albums chart. Single Secondhand Serenade released only one song as a single from the debut album, "Vulnerable". The song spawned a music video, which was created by Frank Borin who was responsible for the Red Hot Chili Peppers' video for hit single "Dani California". Secondhand Serenade
Secondhand Serenade is an American rock band, led by vocalist, pianist and guitarist John Vesely. Vesely has released four studio albums to date under the name Secondhand Serenade. The name can also refer to John Vesely alone. His debut album used multitrack recording to create the sound of a band using technology, while his second album took a different path, using a proper band and synthesizers to establish a more accomplished sound. Ronnie Day (born Ronald Guglielmone Jr.; January 18, 1988) is an American songwriter from Redwood City, California. By the age of 16, Day had sold over 10,000 copies of his bedroom record, ''Nine Sleepless Nights''. After being tested for proficiency, he graduated from high school early, and drove coast to coast playing on street corners, in parks, backyards and living rooms. He rose to the top unsigned artist position on both Myspace and Purevolume's music charts, and sales of his album skyrocketed. In 2006, on his 18th birthday, Day signed with Epic Records, ending an industry-wide bidding war. The Pop 100 was a songs chart that debuted in February 2005 and was released weekly by ''Billboard'' magazine in the United States until its discontinuation in 2009. It ranked songs based on airplay on Mainstream Top 40 radio stations, singles sales and digital downloads. Acoustic music is music that solely or primarily uses instruments that produce sound through acoustic means, as opposed to electric or electronic means. While all music was once acoustic, the retronym "acoustic music" appeared after the advent of electric instruments, such as the electric guitar, electric violin, electric organ and synthesizer.
