Avvo.com is an online marketplace for legal services, that provides lawyer referrals and access to a database of legal information consisting primarily of previously answered questions. Lawyer profiles may include client reviews, disciplinary actions, peer endorsements, and lawyer-submitted legal guides. History Avvo was founded in Seattle, Washington in 2006 by Mark Britton, a former legal counsel for Expedia, Inc. and Paul Bloom. Britton said he developed the idea while vacationing in Italy and was still receiving inquires from friends and colleagues seeking legal advice. Mark Britton
Mark Britton (born February 21, 1967) is a former lawyer and Expedia executive and founder of the legal marketplace Avvo.com. In 2015, Mark won the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for the Pacific Northwest. Mark was also identified as one of three upcoming Seattle "Tech Titans 2.0" by Puget Sound Business Journal in 2012 and as one of Seattle's Top 25 Innovators by Seattle Business Magazine in 2007. Upon his retirement from Avvo in 2018, Above the Law called him "the person who most disrupted law this decade." Richard Barton (born June 2, 1967) is an American internet entrepreneur and the chief executive officer of Zillow Group. Barton founded online travel company (and Microsoft spinoff) Expedia, Inc., real-estate internet company Zillow, and job search engine and career community Glassdoor.
