Frome is a single-member electoral district for the South Australian House of Assembly. It is named after Edward Charles Frome, the third surveyor-general of South Australia. The electorate stretches north-eastwards from the Gawler River and Gulf St Vincent in the south, and includes many of the agricultural areas of the Clare and Gilbert Valleys. It was created by the redistribution of 2016, and was contested for the first time at the 2018 South Australian state election, 2018 state election. Long Plains, South Australia
Long Plains is a rural locality and small township on the northern Adelaide Plains in South Australia, 73 km north of Adelaide. It is divided between the Wakefield Regional Council and the Adelaide Plains Council. The formal boundaries were established in 1997 for the long established local name with respect of the section in the Adelaide Plains Council; the portion in the Wakefield Council was added in January 2000. Long Plains is on the Adelaide-Port Augusta railway line, between Mallala and Bowmans. From 1917 to 1923 Long Plains was the rail terminus. The Long Plains Memorial Hall was built in 1923 and commemorates the lives of four local residents who died in World War I. Long Plains School opened in 1883 and closed in 1973. Bowmans (; postcode: 5550) is a locality in South Australia's Mid North. At the 2006 census, Bowmans had a population of 203. It is named after R and C Bowman who were "pastoralists in area." Traditional occupants According to the ''Manning Index of South Australian History'' the " Nantuwwara ictribe of some 25 to 30 once occupied the country from the River Wakefield, north to Whitwarta and west to Hummock Range", an area which would encompass the modern localities of Bowmans, Whitwarta, Goyder, Beaufort, Nantawarra and Mount Templeton. The term Nantuwara (or Nantuwaru) is considered to be a specific name for the northern hordes of the Kaurna people. The Mid North is a region of South Australia, north of the Adelaide Plains and south of the Far North and the outback. It is generally accepted to extend from Spencer Gulf east to the Barrier Highway, including the coastal plain, the southern part of the Flinders Ranges, and the northern part of the Mount Lofty Ranges.
