Avoca Hockey Club
Avoca Hockey Club (Irish language, Irish: ''Cumann Haca Abhóca'') is a field hockey club based at Newpark Comprehensive School in Blackrock, Dublin. The club was originally founded in 1895 in Ireland, 1895 and a women's team was added in 1973. Avoca enters various men's and women's teams in junior, senior and veterans leagues and cup competitions affiliated to the Leinster Hockey Association. Avoca men have won both the Irish Senior Cup (men's hockey), Men's Irish Senior Cup and the Irish Junior Cup (men's hockey), Men's Irish Junior Cup. Avoca Women won the Irish Hockey Trophy in 2022. The club has also represented Hockey Ireland, Ireland in European Hockey Federation, European competitions, finishing third in the 1993 EuroHockey Club Trophy. Hockey Ireland, previously known as the Irish Hockey Association, is the governing body for field hockey in both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. It is responsible for organising both the Ireland men's national field hockey team and the Ireland women's national field hockey team, as well as national leagues and cup competitions. Lisnagarvey Hockey Club is a field hockey club based in Hillsborough, County Down, Northern Ireland. The club was founded in 1901 and was originally based in Lisburn. The club was named after Lisnagarvey, the townland that eventually expanded into Lisburn. David Judge (field Hockey)
Harold David Judge (1936–2015), also known as David Judge, was an Irish-born Great Britain and Ireland men's field hockey international who represented Great Britain at the 1964 Summer Olympics, and between 1957 and 1978 made 124 senior appearances for Ireland. He also represented Ireland at the 1970 and 1972 EuroHockey Nations Championships and at the 1978 Men's Hockey World Cup. Loreto College, Foxrock is a voluntary fee-paying Catholic secondary school under the direction of the Sisters of Loreto in Foxrock, a suburb of Dublin, Ireland. It is situated on the N11 in Dublin. History The school was opened in 1941. The Bishop asked Mother Pauline Dunne, Superior General of Loreto, to open a junior and secondary school in Foxrock.
