Avo Paistik (21 April 1936 − 3 December 2013) was an Estonian cartoonist, author, illustrator, film director, painter and pastor. Born in Tallinn, Paistik animation short film credits included ''Lend'', ''Tolmuimeja'', ''Klaabu'', ''Nipi ja tige kala'', ''Klaabu kosmoses'', ''Naksitrallid'' and ''Naksitrallid II''. Avo Sõmer
Avo Sõmer (born 1934) is an American musicologist music theorist, and composer, of Estonian birth. Sõmer was born in Tartu, Estonia. He emigrated from Estonia with his parents in 1944, when he was ten years old, first to Germany and then to the United States. He had already begun playing the piano as a child in Pärnu. In Germany he took some piano lessons and instruction in theory, and began to compose, but systematic instruction in music came only later. He majored in music education, piano performance, and composition at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, followed by graduate studies at the University of Michigan where, in 1957, he earned an M. A. with a thesis on Monteverdi's madrigals, and then, in 1963, a PhD with a dissertation "The Keyboard Music of Johann Jakob Froberger". Avo Uvezian (March 22, 1926 in Beirut, French Lebanon – March 24, 2017 in Orlando, FL) was an Armenian-American cigar manufacturer, jazz pianist and composer. Early life Avedis "Avo" Uvezian was born to a family of musicians. His mother was a singer, while his father was a composer and conductor for a symphony orchestra. His parents' experience with music allowed him to develop his talents as a young man. Career Uvezian joined a jazz trio called the Lebanon Boys. They received a contract to perform at a hotel in Baghdad where they stayed for one year. After this, they signed a contract to perform at a hotel in Iran. Avo Viiol (sometimes also spelled as Aavo Viiol; born 5 August 1958) is a former head of and a famous Estonian embezzler. Between December 1999 and August 2002, Viiol, then working as head of the Estonian Culture Fund, embezzled the Fund of 8,510,910 EEK, sometimes by forging expense documents, and caused 17,868 EEK of damages through unnecessary cash advance fees. On 14 August 2002, Estonian Internal Security Service arrested Viiol after the Estonian Ministry of Culture had detected suspicious activity regarding management of the Fund's assets. On 7 January 2003, the Tallinn City Court convicted Viiol of official forgery and grand embezzlement using the ''simple trial procedure'' ( et, lihtmenetlus).
