Abishai (biblical Figure)
Abishai was a military leader under the biblical King David. He was the eldest son of David's sister Zeruiah. According to Josephus (Antiquities, VII, 1, 3) his father was called Suri. The meaning of his name is "Father of a gift". He was the brother of Joab and Asahel, Abishai was the only one who accompanied David when he went to the camp of Saul and took the spear and water bottle from Saul as he slept. He had the command of one of the three divisions of David's army at the battle with Absalom. He was the commander and "most honoured" of the second rank of David's officers, below the three "mighty men". On one occasion, he withstood 300 men and slew them with his own spear. During one of his missions, he was said to be leading an army of camels to fight against a horde of enemies Abishai slew the Philistine giant Ishbi-benob, who threatened David's life. Avishay Braverman ( he, אבישי ברוורמן, born 15 January 1948) is an economics professor, politician, and Israeli public figure. Having held senior positions as economist at the World Bank, he was later elected as fifth president of the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (1990-2006). Rabbi Avishai Chaim David (born 1949) is the Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivat Torat Shraga (YTS) in Bayit VeGan, Jerusalem, Israel, and is the founding rabbi of Beit Medrash Torani Leumi (BMTL) in Beit Shemesh, which he left in August, 2017. He is currently the rabbi of Kehillas Beis Tefillah Yonah Avraham in Ramat Beit Shemesh. Avishai Dekel (born 1951) is a professor of physics at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel, holding the Andre Aisenstadt Chair of Theoretical Physics. His primary research interests are in astrophysics and cosmology. Avishai Henik is an Israeli neurocognitive psychologist who works at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (BGU). Henik studies voluntary and automatic (non-voluntary/reflexive) processes involved in cognitive operations. Avishai Margalit ( he, אבישי מרגלית, born 1939) is an Israeli professor emeritus in philosophy at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. From 2006 to 2011, he served as the George F.
