Avigdor Yitzhaki
Avigdor Yitzhaki ( he, אביגדור יצחקי, born 13 September 1949) is an Israeli politician. He is a former member of the Knesset for Kadima, having been the party's parliamentary group chairman and head of the coalition. He is the chairman of Friends of Schneider. On 2 May 2007, Yitzhaki requested that Prime Minister of Israel, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert resign as soon as possible following the Winograd Commission's first report. On 7 February 2008 he resigned from the Knesset due to "serious doubts over Ehud Olmert's ability to lead the government in the wake of the Winograd Report". Kadima
Kadima ( he, קדימה, lit=''Forward'') was a centrist and liberal political party in Israel. It was established on 24 November 2005 by moderates from Likud largely following the implementation of Ariel Sharon's unilateral disengagement plan in August 2005, and was soon joined by like-minded Labor politicians. With Ehud Olmert as party chairman following Sharon's stroke, it became the largest party in the Knesset after the 2006 elections, winning 29 of the 120 seats, and led a coalition government. Knesset
The Knesset ( he, הַכְּנֶסֶת ; "gathering" or "assembly") is the unicameral legislature of Israel. As the supreme state body, the Knesset is sovereign and thus has complete control of the entirety of the Israeli government (with the exception of checks and balances from the courts and local governments). The Knesset passes all laws, elects the president and prime minister (although the latter is ceremonially appointed by the President), approves the cabinet, and supervises the work of the government, among other things. In addition, the Knesset elects the state comptroller. Friends of Schneider ( he, נאמני מרכז שניידר) is the official charity of Schneider Children's Medical Center of Israel. History In 1992, the friends organisation, initiated by Prof. Haim Doron, began operating even before the establishment of hospital. The first president of the association was Aura Herzog, the wife of Chaim Herzog who served at the time as the President of the State of Israel. Activities Friends of Schneider is an association of friends which has been active on behalf of the Schneider Children's Medical Center of Israel since its inception in 1992. Ehud Olmert (; he, אֶהוּד אוֹלְמֶרְט, ; born 30 September 1945) is an Israeli politician and lawyer. He served as the 12th Prime Minister of Israel from 2006 to 2009 and before that as a cabinet minister from 1988 to 1992 and from 2003 to 2006. Between his first and second stints as a cabinet member, he served as mayor of Jerusalem from 1993 to 2003. The Winograd Commission ( he, ועדת וינוגרד; the commission's official name is הוועדה לבדיקת ארועי המערכה בלבנון 2006 – "The commission of inquiry into the events of military engagement in Lebanon 2006") is an Israeli government-appointed commission of inquiry, chaired by retired judge Eliyahu Winograd, which investigated and drew lessons from the 2006 Lebanon War (or the Second Lebanon War as it is known in Israel). The committee had its first plenary session on 18 September 2006 and began summoning and hearing testimonies from witnesses on 2 November of that year.
