Avi Rosenfeld
Avi Rosenfeld (born December 26, 1974) is an Israeli military officer. In 2023, he held the rank of Brigadier general. He currently serves as the GOC of the Gaza Division. Previously he served as commander of Oz Brigade, commander of the Bislamach Brigade, commander of the Northern Gaza Brigade, commander of Sharon Regional Brigade, commander of the Shaldag Unit and commander of the Nahal Infantry Brigade. Early life Rosenfeld was born and raised in Kibbutz Ein HaShofet. He studied at the kibbutz and at Harei Ephraim regional high school. Career He enlisted in the Israel Defense Force (IDF) in November 1993. He was assigned to the Nahal Brigade and was accepted to the Nahal Reconnaissance Platoon. He underwent combat soldier training, an infantry NCO course and an infantry officer course. Afterwards, he returned to the Nahal Reconnaissance Platoon and was appointed a team leader in 1995. Shaldag Unit
Unit 5101, more commonly known as Shaldag ( he, שלדג, ''Kingfisher''), is an elite Israeli Air Force (IAF) special forces unit and one of the main Israeli special forces units. The unit is part of the Special Air Forces Wing (Wing 7) in the IAF. The unit is based in the Palmachim Airbase, and is led by an officer at the rank of lieutenant colonel. The unit was inspired by the British Special Air Service (SAS). It specializes in commando and intelligence operations within enemy territory. The 340th "Idan" Armoured Division ( he, עוצבת עידן) is an Israel Defense Forces reserve division. It falls under the jurisdiction of the Central Regional Command and is located in Camp Nachshonim. As of March 2016, it is commanded by Brigadier-general Avi Gil. History Formerly the 880th Division, it was founded in 1974, after the Yom Kippur War, as a reserve division. The Command and Staff College ( he, המכללה הבין-זרועית לפיקוד ולמטה), abbreviated he, פּוּ"ם, פום, PUM, also translated as Inter-Service Command and Staff College, Israel, is intended for the training of senior Israel Defense Forces (IDF) officers. Southern Lebanon () is the area of Lebanon comprising the South Governorate and the Nabatiye Governorate. The two entities were divided from the same province in the early 1990s.
