Yael Averbuch West
Yael Averbuch West (born Yael Friedman Averbuch; November 3, 1986) is a former American professional soccer player. She was formerly the executive director of the National Women's Soccer League Players Association and is the current general manager of NJ/NY Gotham FC. A retired professional soccer player, she last played as a defender for Seattle Reign FC in the National Women's Soccer League. During her career as a center midfielder at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Averbuch was named national player of the year by both Soccer Buzz and Top Drawer Soccer. Averbuch was selected in the first round of the 2009 WPS Draft (4th overall) by her home state team, Sky Blue FC. She later played for Kopparbergs/Göteborg FC in the Damallsvenskan and the UEFA Women's Champions League and made a brief stint with WFC Rossiyanka. Ilan Averbuch
Ilan Averbuch (born 1953, Israel) is a sculptor living and working in Long Island City, New York. Averbuch creates large-scale monumental artworks and installations for gallery and museum exhibitions in addition to outdoor public spaces. Biography Ilan Averbuch was born in Israel, in 1953. He then served in the Israeli Army, fighting in the Yom Kippur War. From 1976–1977 Averbuch traveled to North and South American living between the Cordilleras and the Amazon region, a formative trip that solidified his intention to become an artist. He moved to London in 1977 to attend the Wimbledon School of Art. In 1979 Averbuch moves to New York City to attend the School of Visual Arts to complete his B.F.A. He continues his art education at Hunter College in New York in and receives his M.F.A. in 1985. Lazarus “Jerome” Averbuch (1889–1908) was a 19-year-old Russian-born Jewish immigrant to Chicago who was shot and killed by Chicago Chief of Police George M. Shippy on March 2, 1908. The incident occurred during an era of public fear of foreign-born anarchists in the United States, following their involvement with the Haymarket affair in 1886. The exact circumstances of the shooting remain contested, but Averbuch's death has inspired speculation, ideological arguments, and works of fiction. Background Averbuch is referred to most often as Lazarus Averbuch, but he was likely known as Harry or Jeremiah. Genia Averbuch (1909-1977 he, ג'ניה אוורבוך, russian: Женя Авербух) was an Israeli architect. Early life and education She was born in 1909 in Smila, Russian Empire. Genia Averbuch's family immigrated to Palestine in 1911 when she was two years old and settled in Tel Aviv. Her father, Zeev Averbuch, was the city's first pharmacist, and her mother Zviya was a sculptor. Averbuch grew up and went to school in Tel Aviv, and in 1926, when she was 17, she went to study architecture in the Regia Scuola di Architettura in Rome where other young people from Palestine studied. After two years in Rome, Averbuch continued her studies in Belgium and in 1930 she received a diploma in architecture from the Royal Academy of Arts of Brussels.
