Aventura (horse)
Aventura ( ja, アヴェンチュラ, link=no, foaled 7 March 2008) is a Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare. As a juvenile in 2010 she showed very promising form, winning on her debut before running second in the Sapporo Nisai Stakes and fourth in the Hanshin Juvenile Fillies. She missed the first half of the next season but then won the Isaribi Stakes and the Queen Stakes before recording her biggest victory in the Shuka Sho. She sustained her only defeat of the year on her final start when she was beaten a neck by Snow Fairy in the Queen Elizabeth II Commemorative Cup. Her achievements saw her being awarded the 2011 JRA Award for Best Three-Year-Old Filly. Background Aventura is a bay mare with a large white star bred in Hokkaido by Northern Farm. Jungle Pocket ( ja, ジャングルポケット, link=no, 7 May 1998 – 2 March 2021) is a Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. In a racing career which lasted from 2000 until 2002 he won five of his thirteen races and ¥704,258,000 in prize money. As a two-year-old he showed promising form by winning two races including the Grade III Sapporo Nisai Stakes in record time. In the following year he won the Tokyo Yushun (Japanese Derby) and defeated an international field to win the Japan Cup. His achievements saw him voted Japanese Champion 3-Year-Old Colt and Japanese Horse of the Year for 2001. After failing to win in 2002 he was retired to stud and has had considerable success as a breeding stallion. Hakodate Racecourse
is a horse racing track in Hakodate, Japan, built in 1896. During the period between 2008 and 2009, Hakodate Racecourse was closed for renovation and refurbishment of the grandstand. Work was completed in June 2010. As part of this refurbishment, Mitsubishi Electric installed a Diamond Vision Screen. Races that were supposed to be held at Hakodate during that period were moved to Sapporo Racecourse is located in Chūō-ku, Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan. It was built in 1907 for horse racing use. Reve d'Essor (Japanese レーヴディソール, foaled 8 April 2008) is a Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare. She was the best juvenile filly in Japan in 2010 when she was unbeaten in three races including the Daily Hai Nisai Stakes and Hanshin Juvenile Fillies. She won the Tulip Sho on her three-year-old debut before her career was disrupted by injury. She failed to recapture her best form in two subsequent races and was retired from racing at the end of the year. Background Reve d'Essor is a grey mare bred in Hokkaido by Northern Farm. During her racing career she carried the black, yellow, pink and red colours of Sunday Racing and was trained by Hiroyoshi Matsuda. She was ridden in all of her races by Yuichi Fukunaga. A horse length, or simply length, is a unit of measurement for the length of a horse from nose to tail, approximately . Graded Stakes Race
A graded stakes race is a thoroughbred horse race in the United States that meets the criteria of the American Graded Stakes Committee of the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association (TOBA). A specific grade level (I, II, III or listed) is then assigned to the race, based on statistical analysis of the quality of the field in previous years, provided the race meets the minimum purse criteria for the grade in question. In Canada, a similar grading system is maintained by the Jockey Club of Canada. Graded stakes races are similar to Group races in Europe but the grading is more dynamic in North America. The grading system was designed in 1973 and first published in 1974. The original purpose of grading was to identify the most competitive races, which helps horsemen make comparisons of the relative quality of bloodstock for breeding and sales purposes. New Zealand Trophy
The New Zealand Trophy (Japanese ニュージーランドトロフィー) is a Japanese Grade 2 flat horse race in Japan for three-year-old Thoroughbreds. It is run over a distance of 1600 metres at Nakayama Racecourse in April. The New Zealand Trophy was first run in 1983 and was elevated to Grade 3 status in 1984 before being promoted to Grade 2 in 1987. It serves as a trial race for the NHK Mile Cup.
