Avenida Atlântica
Avenida Atlântica (Portuguese for ''Atlantic Avenue'') is a major seaside avenue in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is 4 kilometers long, and spans the entire length of the neighbourhoods of Copacabana and Leme. Layout In the stretch between its extremity in Leme and its crossing with Princesa Isabel Avenue (about 800 meters long), Avenida Atlântica has two car lanes in each direction, and from there to its Copacabana extremity, it has three lanes. It also has a portuguese pavement promenade with a wave pattern, as well as a bicycle lane between the promenade from the car lanes. There is a military base at each of the two extremities of the avenue: Forte de Copacabana in Copacabana, and Forte Duque de Caxias in Leme. Both are owned and administered by the Brazilian army. Carmen Miranda Museum (''Museu Carmen Miranda''), located in the Parque Brigadeiro Eduardo Gomes (Flamengo Park), is a museum established in homage to singer and actress Carmen Miranda and open to the public since 1976. The Museu da Imagem e do Som do Rio de Janeiro (in English, Rio de Janeiro Museum of Image and Sound) was inaugurated on September 3, 1965, as part of celebrations of the fourth centenary of the city of Rio de Janeiro. The 2007 Pan American Games, officially known as the XV Pan American Games, were a major continental multi-sport event that took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from July 13 to 29, 2007. Beach Volleyball
Beach volleyball is a team sport played by two teams of two or more players on a sand court divided by a net. Similar to indoor volleyball, the objective of the game is to send the ball over the net and to ground it on the opponent's side of the court. Each team also works in unison to prevent the opposing team from grounding the ball on their side of the court. Teams are allowed up to three touches to return the ball across the net, and individual players may not touch the ball twice consecutively except after a touch off an attempted block. Triathlon
A triathlon is an endurance multisport race consisting of swimming, cycling, and running over various distances.
