Avard Longley Davidson
Avard Longley Davidson (November 2, 1877 – July 1, 1931) was a lawyer and political figure in Nova Scotia, Canada. He represented Annapolis and then Digby and Annapolis in the House of Commons of Canada from 1911 to 1921 as a Conservative. He was born in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, the son of J.B. Davidson, and was educated at the Horton Academy, Acadia University and Dalhousie University. Davidson practised law in Middleton, Nova Scotia, also serving as town solicitor. He married Elma J. Armstrong in 1905. He ran unsuccessfully for a seat in the Nova Scotia assembly in 1906 and 1911. Davidson was a member of the Unionist Party from 1917 to 1921. He was defeated when he ran for reelection in 1921. Avard Fairbanks
Avard Tennyson Fairbanks (March 2, 1897 – January 1, 1987) was a 20th-century American sculptor. Over his eighty-year career, he sculpted over 100 public monuments and hundreds of artworks. Fairbanks is known for his religious-themed commissions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) including the ''Three Witnesses'', ''Tragedy of Winter Quarters'', and several ''Angel Moroni'' sculptures on LDS temple spires. Additionally, Fairbanks sculpted over a dozen Abraham Lincoln-themed sculptures and busts among which the most well-known reside in the U.S. Supreme Court Building and Ford's Theatre Museum. From a young age, Fairbanks was a talented artist. At 13 years old, he attended the Art Students League of New York on scholarship and his work was displayed at the National Academy of Design a year later. Avard Longley
Avard Longley (February 22, 1823 – February 22, 1884) was a farmer, merchant and politician in Nova Scotia, Canada. He represented Annapolis County in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1859 to 1867 and again from 1874 to 1878 and represented Annapolis in the House of Commons of Canada from 1878 to 1882 as a Conservative member. He was born in Paradise, Nova Scotia, the son of Asaph Longley and Dorcas Poole. In 1848, he married Hannah Maria Whitman. Longley married Charlotte Augusta Troop in 1855. Longley was first elected to the assembly in 1859 as a temperance advocate. He was commissioner of railways from 1864 to 1869. Longley helped found the Nova Scotia Fruit Growers' Association and served as its president from 1883 to 1884. He ran unsuccessfully for a federal seat in 1867 and 1872 and was defeated when he ran for a seat in the provincial assembly in 1871. Avard Moncur (born November 2, 1978) is a Bahamian track and field athlete competing in the 400 metres. He was born in Nassau. Career Under the guidance of coach Henry Rolle, Moncur's most successful year came in 2001 when he won the gold medal in the 400m and the 4 × 400 m relay at the 2001 World Championships. Moncur has only managed to make one more appearance in the individual final of a major championship, at the 2007 World Championships where he finished 8th. More success, however, has come has part of the Bahamas relay team. At the 2005 World Championships he (together with Nathaniel McKinney, Andrae Williams and Chris Brown) won a silver medal in 4 x 400 metres relay. François Avard
François Avard (born 6 June 1968) is a Canadian writer and scenarist best known as the writer of the Québécois television series ''Les Bougon''. He is the creator and co-author (with Jean-Francois Mercier) of the satirical series Les Bougon. He wrote for multiple French-Canadian series, including Caméra Café, 3X Rien, CA and Bob Gratton. He was a sponsor of the series Ramdam for which he received two Prix Gémeaux in collaboration with writer Fabienne Cortes. He also worked for two seasons of "Ici Louis-José Houde" and the show Pendant ce temps, devant la télé on CBC. He has been working with comedian Martin Matte since 1995. He also worked with Louis-José Houde to write two of his one-man shows and co-wrote his texts for the animation of the Félix Award. Sampson Avard
Sampson Avard (October 23, 1800 – April 15, 1869) was one of the founders and leaders of the Mormon vigilantes known as the Danites, which existed in Missouri during the Missouri Mormon War in 1838. Early life Sampson Avard was born at St. Peter, Guernsey, Channel Islands, British Isles. As an immigrant in the United States, he worked as a physician and later became a Campbellite minister in Pennsylvania. Mormon convert In 1835 in Freedom, Pennsylvania, Orson Pratt baptized him a member of Church of the Latter Day Saints. Church elder Pratt ordained him an Elder and leader of the local branch of the church.
