Avanti La Vie
Belgium was represented by Jacques Zegers, with the song "Avanti la vie", at the 1984 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place on 5 May in Luxembourg City. Zegers was the winner of the Belgian national final for the contest, held on 2 March. Before Eurovision Eurosong French-language broadcaster RTBF was in charge of the selection of the Belgian entry for the 1984 Contest. The final was held at the RTBF studios in Brussels with ten songs participating. Voting was by a 50/50 split between an expert jury and 500 randomly chosen TV viewers. Only the top four placings were announced, with "Avanti la vie" being declared the winner. Jacques Zegers
Jacques Zegers (born 25 June 1947, Brussels) is a Belgian singer, best known for his participation in the 1984 Eurovision Song Contest. Early career Born in Brussels to a Belgian mother and French father, Zegers began singing in cabaret at the age of 16 and in his spare time would participate in song contests while pursuing a career as a journalist. He released two singles, "La nuit" and "Pour elle", in 1983. He was then asked to record "LA en Olympie", the official Belgian song for the 1984 Summer Olympics. Henri Seroka
Henri Seroka (born 1949) is a Belgian singer and composer. Although he began his career as a singer, he is known mostly for his compositions, especially film music, and for composing Belgium's official song for the 1984 Olympic Games.Wangermée, Robert and Vandervellen, Pascale (eds.). The Eurovision Song Contest 1984, the 29th edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, following the country's victory at the with the song "Si la vie est cadeau" by Corinne Hermes. Jo Lemaire (born 5 January 1956) is a Belgian singer and songwriter born in Gembloux, Namur. Beyond her native country, she is also popular in France, Switzerland, Canada, and the Netherlands.
