Avanhard Stadium (Luhansk)
Avanhard Stadium was a multi-purpose stadium in Luhansk, Ukraine. The stadium held 22,288 people. History The stadium was built in 1951 as the Kliment Voroshilov Stadium. In 1957, the stadium's capacity was 7,447. It was not until 1961 when it was renamed into Avanhard (Avangard) Stadium. In 1967, the Avanhard Stadium could hold 40,000 spectators. In 1974, there were installed running tracks. In 1986, due to modernization, the stadium's capacity was reduced to 32,243. In 2002, the stadium ownership has changed when it was transferred from Luhanskteplovoz to the Luhansk Oblast Administration. In 2003, there were conducted major renovations to the stadium's facilities, because of that its capacity was reduced to 22,288. Luhansk (, ; uk, Луганськ, ), also known as Lugansk (, ; russian: Луганск, ), is a city in what is internationally recognised as Ukraine, although it is administered by Russia as capital of the Luhansk People's Republic (LPR). As of 2021, the population was estimated to be 399,559, making Luhansk the most populous city in the region and the 12th largest in Ukraine. In 2001, nearly half of the population was ethnically Ukrainian, and 47% was ethnically Russian. FC Zorya Luhansk ( uk, ФК «Зоря» Луганськ ) is a Ukrainian football team. Zorya Luhansk is based in the city of Luhansk, Ukraine. However, because of the Russo-Ukrainian War, the team play their games at Slavutych-Arena in Zaporizhzhia. The Luhansk People's Republic football team (or Lugansk) is a team representing the Luhansk People's Republic (LPR), a disputed Russian republic in eastern Ukraine. The team is not affiliated with FIFA or UEFA and therefore cannot compete for the FIFA World Cup or the UEFA European Championship.
