Autódromo Monterrey
The Autódromo Monterrey is a racetrack in Apodaca, Nuevo León, México, in the Monterrey metropolitan area. The track currently is operated by DIPSA and host races for NASCAR PEAK Mexico Series, NASCAR México, drag racing, karting and Volkswagen Beetle, Volks races. History The track is located front the Del Norte International Airport. The Autódromo was inaugurated in 1970 by Filiberto Jiménez. In the 1970s, 500 km of Monterrey was the main event in this circuit. Layout The track has a long straight (used for drag racing), followed by a chicane (turn 1) which takes the drivers to a hairpin turn. Turn 6 is another chicane, together with T1 was added later. Originally the last curve was a banking turn, now used in the short layout. In the long version there is a bypass that conducts to the second part of this turn. Apodaca
Apodaca () is a city and its surrounding municipality that is part of Monterrey Metropolitan area. It lies in the northeastern part of the Monterrey Metropolitan Area. It is known for becoming recently a heavy industrialized city. As of 2019, the city houses 70% of the industrial plants of the state of Nuevo León. Apodaca is as well the fourth most exporting city in México. The municipality has an area of 183.5 km2. The population has recently increased from around 115,000 people in 1990 to almost 600,000 in 2015. Desafío Corona
The Desafío Corona was a stock car racing series in Mexico. NASCAR founded the series in 2004 in conjunction with OCESA, a Mexican entertainment company. The business partnership between NASCAR and OCESA resulted in the creation of a new entity, now officially known as NASCAR Mexico. The former Desafío Corona series is now known as NASCAR Mexico Series. Origins The series was originally known as MasterCard Truck Series, which was a Craftsman Truck Series look-alike series, founded in 2002. Daniel Alejandro Suárez Garza (born January 7, 1992) is a Mexican professional stock car racing driver. He competes full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. 99 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for Trackhouse Racing Team. He previously drove in the NASCAR Toyota Series in Mexico for Telcel Racing, and the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East for Rev Racing as a member of the Drive for Diversity program. Jorge Goeters (born June 26, 1970) is a Mexican racecar driver. At the present time, Goeters competes full-time in the NASCAR Mexico Series in Mexico. Germán Quiroga Jr. (born May 29, 1980) is a Mexican professional stock car racing driver. In 2011, he became the first three-time NASCAR Corona Series champion. Antonio Pérez Mendoza (born 20 March 1986) is a Mexican retired stock car racing driver. He last competed in the NASCAR Mexico Series, driving the No. 1 Toyota for Jimmy Morales. He is the 2008 NASCAR Corona Series champion. Racing career Pérez began racing full-time in the Corona Series in 2006, winning Rookie of the Year honors. Carlos Pardo
Carlos Alberto Pardo Estévez (September 15, 1975 – June 14, 2009) was a Mexican stock car racing driver from Mexico City. He was the first driver to win the NASCAR Mexico Corona Series championship. Career Pardo won 10 of his 74 NASCAR Mexico Corona Series starts and had 8 poles. He won the championship in 2004. He was third in standings in 2005 and 2006. Pardo also competed in six races in the NASCAR Camping World Series East in 2004 and 2005 and raced in the NASCAR Nationwide Series at Autódromo Hermanos Rodriguez in 2006. Rogelio López III (born July 29, 1980) is a Mexican racing driver from Aguascalientes. López won the 2006 Desafío Coronachampionship, and went to the United States to drive the No. 03 Telmex/Lucas Oil Dodge in the NASCAR Grand National Division, Busch East Series for the 2007 season. He got his first win in the Busch East Series during his rookie season, winning on July 21, 2007, at the Music City Motorplex in Nashville. He eventually went on to finish 7th in the standings with one win, five top-5 finishes, and six top-10 finishes. Carlos Guerrero
Carlos Guerrero (born November 20, 1957, Mexico City, Mexico) is a retired Mexican racing driver. He was a multiple-time Formula Three and Formula Two champion in his native Mexico. Guerrero later raced in the 1995 and 1996 CART seasons with 17 career starts, including the 1995 Indianapolis 500. He was eliminated in a crash on the first lap, becoming one of a handful of drivers to qualify for only one Indianapolis 500 and fail to complete a lap. His best career finish in CART was 11th position at the 1995 Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. He is not related to Roberto Guerrero, who is Colombian.
