Autosalvage
Autosalvage was an American psychedelic rock band from New York City, who recorded and released one album in 1968. The band was started in 1966 by folk and bluegrass musician Tom Danaher, joined by multi-instrumentalist Darius Davenport, guitarist Rick Turner, and bassist Skip Boone. All came from musical backgrounds. Danaher, who took lead vocals and played rhythm guitar, had played in folk clubs with Turner, who had also performed with Ian & Sylvia. Boone was the brother of Steve Boone of The Lovin' Spoonful, and Davenport was the son of a member of New York Pro Musica and had a collection of musical instruments. Rick Turner (luthier)
Warwick Lancelot Armstrong "Rick" Turner III, (July 30, 1943 – April 17, 2022) was an American builder of guitars and electric bass, basses, ukuleles, and other stringed instruments. As a guitar builder, Rick created instruments for rock musicians including Lindsey Buckingham, John Entwistle, and Jesse Colin Young. Career Turner grew up from the age of eight in Marblehead, Massachusetts. He started helping to make and repair musical instruments when young, and was given his first guitar at the age of 11. He attended boarding school in Rhode Island before starting at Boston University in 1962, where he started going to folk clubs and coffeehouses, and undertook guitar repairs at a store in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Cambridge. South By Southwest
South by Southwest, abbreviated as SXSW and colloquially referred to as South By, is an annual conglomeration of parallel film, interactive media, and music festivals and Convention (meeting), conferences organized jointly that take place in mid-March in Austin, Texas, United States. It began in 1987 and has continued to grow in both scope and size every year. In 2017, the conference lasted for 10 days with the interactive track lasting for five days, music for seven days, and film for nine days. There was no in-person event in 2020 and 2021 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic in Austin, Texas; both years, there was a smaller online event instead. Lindsey Adams Buckingham (born October 3, 1949) is an American musician and record producer, best known as the lead guitarist and male lead vocalist of the band Fleetwood Mac from 1975 to 1987 and 1997 to 2018. In addition to his tenure with Fleetwood Mac, Buckingham has released seven solo studio albums and three live albums. Ryland Peter "Ry" Cooder (born March 15, 1947) is an American musician, songwriter, film score composer, record producer, and writer. A luthier ( ; AmE also ) is a craftsperson who builds or repairs string instruments that have a neck and a sound box. The word "luthier" is originally French and comes from the French word for lute. The term was originally used for makers of lutes, but it came to be used already in French for makers of most bowed and plucked stringed instruments such as members of the violin family (including violas, cellos, and double basses) and guitars. Alembic is an American manufacturer of high-end electric basses, guitars and preamps. Founded in 1969, the company began manufacturing pre-amps before building complete instruments. The Youngbloods
The Youngbloods were an American rock band consisting of Jesse Colin Young (vocals, bass, guitar), Jerry Corbitt (vocals, guitar, keyboards, harmonica), Lowell "Banana" Levinger (guitar and electric piano), and Joe Bauer (drums). Jesse Colin Young
Perry Miller (born November 22, 1941), known professionally as Jesse Colin Young, is an American singer and songwriter. He was a founding member and lead singer of the 1960s group the The Youngbloods, Youngbloods. After their dissolution in 1972, Young embarked on a solo career, releasing a series of successful albums through Warner Bros. Records, including ''Song for Juli'' (1973), ''Light Shine'' (1974), ''Songbird'' (1975) and the live album ''On the Road'' (1976). Young continued to release music in the 1980s with Elektra Records and Cypress Records, before deciding to release music through his personal label, Ridgetop Music, in 1993.
