The Autonomist Movement was a Chilean political movement which was a founding member of the Broad Front on 21 January 2017. One year later, the movement merged into the party Social Convergence alongside Libertarian Left, Socialism and Liberty and New Democracy. Gabriel Boric
Gabriel Boric Font (; born 11 February 1986) is a Chilean left-wing politician who is the 37th and current president of Chile, serving since 11 March 2022. Boric studied in the Faculty of Law at the University of Chile, and was the president of the University of Chile Student Federation from 2011 to 2012. As a student representative, he became one of the leading figures of the 2011–2013 Chilean student protests. Boric was twice elected to the Chamber of Deputies representing the Magallanes and Antarctic district, first as an independent candidate in 2013 and then in 2017 as part of the Broad Front, a left-wing coalition he created with several other parties. He is a founding member of Social Convergence, which was formed in 2018 and is one of the constituent parties of Broad Front. Social Convergence
The Social Convergence (, CS) is a left-wing political party in Chile. It is led by Gabriel Boric. It was founded in 2018 by the Autonomist Movement (MA), Libertarian Left (IL) (a part of the movement left the party in 2019), Socialism and Freedom (SOL) and New Democracy (ND). It is part of the leftist coalition Broad Front. In mid-2019, members of the movement began their process to register as a legally constituted political party. Social Convergence experienced an internal crisis in 2019, after a large number of militants resigned from the party, due to the initial rejection of Gabriel Boric's participation in the agreement made by the congress to create a new constitution, initiated due to the 2019 Chilean protests. Broad Front (Chile)
The Broad Front ( es, Frente Amplio, FA) is a Chilean political coalition founded in early 2017, composed of left-wing parties and movements. Its first electoral contest was the 2017 Chilean general election, where their presidential candidate Beatriz Sánchez came third with 20% of the vote in the first round of election (she just missed getting to the second-round run-off by 3%). The Broad Front also expanded their electoral representation to 20 deputies (out of 155), 1 senator (out of 43) and 21 out of 278 Regional Councillors, thus consolidating the movement as the 'third force' in Chilean politics. ''The Clinic'' is a partly satirical Chilean newspaper that offers analysis and opinion on politics, culture, and current affairs. The newspaper was founded by Patricio Fernández Chadwick in November 1998. The paper includes a wide mix of cultural criticism, jokes, in-depth interviews, and investigative work.
