Autobahnkirche Siegerland
Autobahnkirche Siegerland or Autobahnkirche an der A 45 is an ecumenical Christian road church at the Bundesautobahn 45 near Wilnsdorf, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Opened in 2013, the building has received several architecture awards. History The church is one of several German road churches which was initiated by private patrons and was financed primarily by donations. The building was erected following a design by from Frankfurt which won a 2009 competition. It was inaugurated on 26 May 2013 and received several architecture awards. The church is dedicated to quiet contemplation by Christians of all denominations and is always open. It is run by the ''Förderverein Autobahnkirche Siegerland'' association. The association organises a Wochenschluss-Andacht on Fridays and occasional cultural events with religious themes, such as sacred music. Wilnsdorf is a municipality in the district of Siegen-Wittgenstein, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Geography The southern municipal limits, with the Kalteiche peak, part of the Rothaargebirge, form not only the community's highest point, at 579 m above sea level, but also the boundary between Hesse (Lahn-Dill-Kreis) and North Rhine-Westphalia. Ecumenism
Ecumenism (), also spelled oecumenism, is the concept and principle that Christians who belong to different Christian denominations should work together to develop closer relationships among their churches and promote Christian unity. The adjective ''ecumenical'' is thus applied to any initiative that encourages greater cooperation and union among Christian denominations and churches. Road Church
A road church is a roadside church, one of a network of such churches in Denmark ( da, vejkirke), Germany (german: Autobahnkirche, open all year), Estonia ( et, Teeliste kirikud), Finland ( fi, tiekirkko, sv, vägkyrka), Norway ( no, veikirke), Russia (Murmansk oblast) and Sweden ( sv, vägkyrka). Bundesautobahn 45
is an autobahn in Germany, connecting Dortmund in the west with Aschaffenburg in the southwest. It is colloquially known as the ''Sauerlandlinie'' (Sauerland line) as it runs through the hilly, rural Sauerland region between Hagen and Siegen. The A45 has many bridges to cross valleys, the highest of which is the Sichter Valley bridge (''Talbrücke Sichter'') between Lüdenscheid and Meinerzhagen at 530 metres above mean sea level. Peter Zizka
Peter Zizka (born 16 December 1961) is a German designer and conceptual artist. Life Zizka is the younger son of the social politician Walburga Zizka (Christian Democratic Union of Germany) and Cyril Zizka, of Czech descendant. Initially trained as an art restorer, Peter Zizka went to study graphics, design, and visual communication at the Hochschule für Gestaltung Offenbach in 1983. At the same time, he attended the Städelschule in Frankfurt and studied under Bruce McLean, among others. In 1989, together with Achim Heine and Michael Lenz, Zizka founded the design company Heine/Lenz/Zizka. Parallel, in the early 1990s, Zizka and Olaf Rahlwes explored the interface between art and design with their ''MEMORY'' conceptual art exhibitions. After leaving ''MEMORY'', Zizka worked on design projects that were socially relevant. Psalm 91
Psalm 91 is the 91st psalm of the Book of Psalms, beginning in English in the King James Version: "He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty." In Latin, it is known as 'Qui habitat". As a psalm of protection, it is commonly invoked in times of hardship. Though no author is mentioned in the Hebrew text of this psalm, Jewish tradition ascribes it to Moses, with David compiling it in his Book of Psalms. The Septuagint translation attributes it to David. In the slightly different numbering system used in the Greek Septuagint and Latin Vulgate translations of the Bible, this psalm is Psalm 90.
