''Auto Train'' is an scheduled daily train service for passengers and their automobiles operated by Amtrak between Lorton, Virginia (near Washington, D.C.), and Sanford, Florida (near Orlando, Florida, Orlando). ''Auto Train'' is the only motorail service in the United States. Passengers ride in Coach (rail), coach seats or private sleeping car rooms while their vehicles are carried in enclosed automobile-carrying freight cars called autoracks. Guinea is an unincorporated community in Caroline County, Virginia, United States. Guinea is northwest of Bowling Green. The modern spelling of the name has been altered from the earlier "Guiney" or "Guiney's", so called after an old Caroline County family, the GuineysMarshall Wingfield, ''A History of Caroline County, Virginia'', (Richmond, Va: Trevvet Christian, 1924), p. 36 (also spelled Guinney, Gwinny, or Ginny in various records). Autotrain Lorton
The Autotrain was a type of passenger train used in the early 20th century, where the steam locomotive could be remotely controlled from the rear of the train. This meant that the engine would not have to headshunt, run-around at the end of a journey before returning. These trains were also known as motor trains or railmotors at the time, but the term railmotor is now used to refer to trains where the steam engine was integrated into the coach. A driving cab in the rearmost coach (known as an autocoach or auto trailer) has controls to allow the driver to operate the steam locomotive components, regulator, brake and whistle when driving the train 'in reverse'.
