Austrocochlea Concamerata
''Austrocochlea'' is a genus of medium-sized sea snails, marine (ocean), marine gastropod molluscs in the family Trochidae, the top snails, also known as top shells. This genus was founded as a subgenus by Fisher in 1885 to include a small group of Australian species, included in the genus ''Monodonta''. They had previously been included in ''Trochocochlea'' Klein, 1753 ( = ''Osilinus'' Philippi, 1847), a section that was then restricted to the Mediterranean group. Distribution This marine species occurs off the Philippines and mainly off Australia. Species Species within the genus ''Austrocochlea'' include: * ''Austrocochlea brevis'' Parsons & Ward, 1994 * ''Austrocochlea constellata'' (Souverbie, 1863) * ''Austrocochlea constricta'' (Lamarck, 1822), the southern ribbed top snail * ''Austrocochlea diminuta'' (Hedley, 1912) * ''Austrocochlea piperina'' (Philippi, 1849) * ''Austrocochlea porcata'' (Arthur Adams (zoologist), A. Adams, 1853), the zebra top snail * ''Austrocochlea q ...

Gibbula
''Gibbula'' is a genus of small sea snails, marine gastropod molluscs in the subfamily Cantharidinae of the family Trochidae, the top snails.Bouchet, P.; Gofas, S. (2011). Gibbula Risso, 1826. Accessed through: World Register of Marine Species at http://www.marinespecies.org/aphia.php?p=taxdetails&id=138590 on 2011-04-02 Taxonomy Affenzeller et al. (2017) have shown than several Mediterranean species hitherto assigned to ''Gibbula'' were forming a separate clade and should be assigned to the genus ''Steromphala''. They included in the restricted ''Gibbula'' clade the species ''G. magus'' (type species), ''G. fanulum'' and ''G. ardens''. However many other species were not taken into account in this paper and will remain listed in WoRMS under ''Gibbula'' until their phylogenetic position is assessed, but possibly do not belong to the restricted ''Gibbula'' clade. Distribution The species in this genus occur through all seas, except on the coast of the American continent. D ...

The small, solid shell has an ovate-turbinate shape. It is dull and rough. The 5½ whorls are separated by impressed sutures. The colour of the shell is very variable: entire maroon or entire slate or either with broad radiating stripes of buff, or the spiials articulated with buff on a maroon or slate ground, or combinations of these. The nacre of the interior of the aperture is bordered with emerald. He retired as Staff Surgeon aboard flagship HMS ''Royal Adelaide'' at Plymouth in 1870. He was a prolific malacologist who described "hundreds of new species, most of them unillustrated and insufficiently diagnosed". He partly worked together with his brother Henry Adams (1813–1877) and together they wrote The genera of recent mollusca: arranged according to their organization' (three volumes, 1858).
