Australian Theatres is a joint venture between Village Roadshow and EVT Limited. The partnership was formed on 31 March 2003 between Greater Union and Village Cinemas in Sydney. Before being acquired by private equity company BGH Capital, the company was listed on the Australian Securities Exchange and majority owned by Village Roadshow Corporation, with members of founder Roc Kirby's family in the top roles. The Australian Business Number (ABN) is a unique 11-digit identifier issued by the Australian Business Register (ABR) which is operated by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).
