Australian National Broomball Championships
The Australian National Broomball Championships is an annual broomball tournament, held in various cities across Australia, to determine Australia's national champions. The tournament is organized by the national governing body for the sport, Broomball Australia. The Championships have been held annually since 1990, and attracts representative teams from New South Wales, Queensland, Australian Capital Territory, South Australia, and Victoria (Australia), Victoria. Teams representing Gold Coast, Queensland, Gold Coast and Coffs Harbour have also participated in the past. In 2003 an invitational team composed of United States of America, American and Japanese players took part but were ineligible for finals. The 2022 Broomball Championships was held from April 21 - April 24 at Penrith Ice Palace, including both Men's and Women's competitions. Broomball
Broomball is a both a recreational and organized competitive winter team sport played on ice or snow and is played either indoors or outdoors, depending on climate and location. It is a ball sport and is most popularly played in Canada and the United States. Unlike most winter team sports played on ice, organized broomball does not use ice skates. Player footwear for formal play consists of shoes created specifically for broomball which are designed to improve a player's traction on the ice. Though the sport can be played outdoors on snow, organized broomball in the 21st century is primarily played on an ice hockey rink. Players hit a ball around the ice or snow with a stick. Regardless of whether the broomball stick used by players is a literal broom or a conventional broomball stick with a molded paddle-shaped end, the stick is simply called a "broom." Queensland Cyclones
The Queensland Cyclones are an Australian broomball team, representing the state of Queensland at the Australian National Broomball Championships. Players representing the Queensland Cyclones are primarily drawn from the North Queensland Broomball Association, a broomball club based in the north Queensland city of Townsville. The Cyclones have a comparatively poor record at the National Championships when compared to the representative teams from elsewhere in Australia. Their only national title to date is the 1995 Mixed Elite title. They have finished as runners up in most divisions on a number of occasions. Flag Of New South Wales
The current state flag of New South Wales was officially adopted by the government of New South Wales in 1876. The flag is based on the defaced British Blue Ensign with the state badge located in the fly. The badge, based on the coat of arms, is a white disc with the cross of St George, a golden lion passant guardant in the centre of the cross and an eight-pointed gold star on each arm of the cross. This flag was adopted due to criticisms from the British Admiralty that the previous design was too similar to the design of the Victorian flag. The state badge was designed by the Colonial Architect James Barnet and Captain Francis Hixson, a retired Royal Navy officer. Townsville is a city on the north-eastern coast of Queensland, Australia. The state flag of Queensland is a British Blue Ensign with the state badge on a white disc added in the fly. The badge is a light blue Maltese Cross with a Saint Edward's Crown in the centre of the cross. Flag Of The Australian Capital Territory
The current flag of the Australian Capital Territory was officially adopted by the Australian Capital Territory Legislative Assembly in 1993. The flag differs from the Australian state flags as it is not a defaced Blue Ensign. It is similar in design to the flag of the Northern Territory. The flag uses the Canberra city colours of blue and gold (which also happen to be the heraldic colours of Australia). The Southern Cross appears as five white stars on a blue panel at the hoist, whilst in the centre of the goldfield in the fly is the modified Coat of arms of the city of Canberra.
