Australian Food and Grocery Council (AFGC) is an industry association of Australia's food, drink, and grocery manufacturing sector. AFGC's vision is set to make Australia's food, beverage and grocery manufacturing industry to be socially responsible and competing profitably in domestic market and as well as overseas. The chief executive officer of the Australian Food and Grocery Council is former Liberal party politician Kate Carnell, who was Chief Minister of the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) from 1995 to 2000. It is a membership based organisation striving to work on behalf of the industry to influence policy, offer service to members of the council, and presenting a united voice for the industry. Kate Carnell
Anne Katherine Carnell (née Knowlman; born 30 May 1955) is an Australian businesswoman and former Liberal Party politician, who served as the third Chief Minister of the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) from 1995 to 2000. Early life and pharmacy career Carnell was born on 30 May 1955, in Brisbane, Queensland. Her parents owned a small accounting business. As a teenager she struggled with anorexia and was sent away to recover at Sydney Hospital. She battled the illness for four years. Heading back to Brisbane after her hospitalisation, Carnell returned to her studies and graduated from the University of Queensland in 1976 with a pharmacy degree. Emissions trading is a market-based approach to controlling pollution by providing economic incentives for reducing the emissions of pollutants. The concept is also known as cap and trade (CAT) or emissions trading scheme (ETS). Carbon emission trading for and other greenhouse gases has been introduced in China, the European Union and other countries as a key tool for climate change mitigation. Other schemes include sulfur dioxide and other pollutants. In an emissions trading scheme, a central authority or governmental body allocates or sells a limited number (a "cap") of permits that allow a discharge of a specific quantity of a specific pollutant over a set time period. Rosemary Alison Stanton (née Finley) (born 5 June 1944, Sydney, New South Wales) is an Australian nutritionist and dietician, known for her media appearances. Biography Stanton has been called "the first 'celebrity' dietitian". As of 2018, Stanton had written 33 books, including several textbooks, many scientific papers and over 3500 articles. She has been a regular guest on many TV programs, including The Investigators and the Checkout (ABC) and was a presenter on Burke's Backyard. Stanton was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in 1998 for her services to community health. She has been awarded an honorary doctorate for her many publications and role in public health, and is a Visiting Fellow in the School of Medical Sciences at the University of New South Wales.
