Australasian Fire And Emergency Service Authorities Council
The National Council for Fire & Emergency Services (formerly the Australasian Fire and Emergency Service Authorities Council or ''AFAC''), is the peak body responsible for representing fire, emergency services and land management agencies in the Australasian region. It was formed in 1993 and has 34 full members and 13 affiliate members. Members AFAC Members are drawn from every state and territory in Australia and New Zealand and from around the Pacific. Full members for the AFAC council and Affiliate members still have access to the support and knowledge network of AFAC without holding a seat on the AFAC council. Airservices Australia is an Australian Government owned corporation, responsible for providing safe, secure, efficient and environmentally responsible services to the aviation industry within the Australian Flight Information Region (FIR). Some of Airservices responsibilities include air traffic control, airways navigation and communication facilities, publishing aeronautical data and airport rescue and fire-fighting services. The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) was a government department in Victoria, Australia. Commencing operation in January 2015, the DELWP was created in the aftermath of the 2014 state election, with Premier Daniel Andrews announcing that the previous Department of Environment and Primary Industries (DEPI) would be renamed. The newly formed DELWP subsequently assumed property and land titles, planning and local government portfolios from the previous Department of Transport, Planning and Local Infrastructure, whilst responsibilities for agriculture were transferred to the Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources. Bushfire CRC
Cooperative Research Centres (CRCs) are an Australian Federal Government program and are key bodies for Australian scientific research. The Cooperative Research Centres Programme was established in 1990 to enhance Australia's industrial, commercial and economic growth through the opined development of sustained, user-driven, cooperative public-private research centres that achieve high levels of outcomes in adoption and commercialisation. The program emphasises the importance of collaborative arrangements to maximise the benefits of research through an enhanced process of utilisation, commercialisation, and technology transfer. It also has an education component with a focus on producing graduates with skills relevant to industry needs. Most CRCs offer scholarships for postgraduate students. The Hong Kong Fire Services Department is an emergency service responsible for firefighting and rescue on land and sea. It also provides an emergency ambulance service for the sick and the injured and gives fire protection advice to the public. It is under the Secretary for Security who heads the Security Bureau.
