Austin Lone Stars
The Austin Lone Stars were a soccer club that competed in the SISL, USISL and United Soccer Leagues from 1987 to 2000. The club originally started in 1987/88 as the Austin Sockadillos in the original indoor SISL league. They became the Austin Lone Stars in 1994. History In 1987, Fernando Marcos established the Austin Sockadillos. Coached by Tony Simoes and assisted by Wolfgang Suhnholz, the team played in the Southwest Indoor Soccer League (SISL). During the 1988-1989 season, they played their home games at Tatu's All Star Indoor Soccer Place. The league ran two outdoor seasons, but in 1989, introduced a summer outdoor season as well. During the 1989 outdoor season, the league was known as the Southwest Outdoor Soccer League and the team was known as the Capital Sockadillos. Saeed Kadkhodaian
Saeed Kadkhodaian is a retired American soccer player, former team owner and currently the president of Azad, Inc. Soccer USA and Doostan, Inc. Soccer USA. He had previously played for, owned and coached the Austin Sockadillos and owned the Minnesota Thunder from 2005 to 2007. Kadkhodaian, a native of Iran, spent much of his youth in Germany. In 1973, he moved to Austin, Texas to work as a mechanical engineer for a telecommunications company. In 1978, he moved to Minnesota before eventually returning moving back to Texas. In 1987, he began playing for the Austin Sockadillos in the Southwest Indoor Soccer League. He also served as the team's director of operations. In 1989, he purchased the team from founder Francisco Marcos. The team was renamed the Austin Lone Stars in 1994. USL Second Division Teams
The USL Championship (USLC) is a professional men's soccer league in the United States that began its inaugural season in 2011. The USL is sanctioned by the United States Soccer Federation (U.S. Soccer) as a Division II league since 2017, placing it under Major League Soccer (Division I) in the hierarchy. The USL is headquartered in Tampa, Florida. Gabe Jones (soccer)
Gabe Jones is a retired American soccer player who was the 1995 USISL MVP and leading scorer. He played one game for the Dallas Burn of Major League Soccer. Youth In 1991, Jones graduated from Georgetown High School. He attended St. Edwards University where he was an NAIA All American soccer player. He graduated in 1995 with a bachelor's degree in international studies. In 2002, St. Edwards University inducted Jones into its Athletic Hall of Fame. Professional In 1995, Jones played for the Austin Lone Stars in the USISL. He was the 1995 USISL MVP while leading the league in scoring. He was the second leading scorer in the 1997 U.S. Open Cup. Oliver Albert George Ley (born 7 April 1946) is an English former footballer who played professionally in both England and the United States.
