Austin Charles Hedges (born August 18, 1992) is an American professional baseball catcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut with the San Diego Padres in 2015 and has also played for the Cleveland Indians/Guardians. Early life Hedges was born on August 18, 1992, in San Juan Capistrano, California, to Charlie and Pam Hedges. As an only child whose parents worked after he came home from school, Hedges spent large parts of his childhood throwing a lacrosse ball at a wall and catching it with his bare hand. His Little League Baseball team, the OC Aztecs, was coached by his father and produced six Major League Baseball (MLB) players. David Owen Fletcher (born May 31, 1994) is an American professional baseball infielder in the Los Angeles Angels organization. Fletcher was born in Orange, California, and attended Cypress High School in Cypress, California. After four varsity seasons with Cypress, Fletcher played two seasons of college baseball for Loyola Marymount University. He was drafted by the Angels in the sixth round of the 2015 Major League Baseball draft. In baseball, a home run (abbreviated HR) is scored when the ball is hit in such a way that the batter is able to circle the bases and reach home plate safely in one play without any errors being committed by the defensive team. The Midwest League is a Minor League Baseball league established in 1947 and based in the Midwestern United States. A Class A league for most of its history, the league was promoted to High-A as part of Major League Baseball's 2021 reorganization of the minor leagues.
